Frankly given the redrawing of ward boundaries and the reduction in seats the fact that Labour managed to get 12 seats was a reasonably decent showing.
Would they like to have done better; of course they would.
Was there any real likelihood of the Tories losing control, not really.
So a decent result for Labour

In other areas Greens, Lib Dems or Labour have stood aside for the best chance of beating the Tory candidate. Not here though as results in Elms Vale & Maxton, Eastry Rural and a couple of others have shown.

Across England, Labour have done ok at a net loss of 4 councils & 110 councillors.
The Tories have had a disaster losing almost 1100 councillors and net 36 councils.

Like I said Brian your neg comments
I think Ross labour should have won control of DDC the tories expected it
But Labour is only active at election time its not enough
But I have been telling them that for 2 years or more
Even offered to help the lab candidate and peon would have got her in but she declined going alone and of course lost
Still that's politics I suppose maybe in Dover it's a wzke up call
Let's hope they listen

To a point Jan but not as straightforward as that due to most Labour voters doing so to stop the Tories getting in and visa versa. Green and Lib Dems would vote en masse for Labour if they didn't have their first choice candidate. My analysis of the vote today would have given 8 extra Labour councillors if that had happened giving them a comfortable majority.

My understanding is that with the surprise win by Roger Walkden, who has now been supplied with a map showing him where Elms Vale and Maxton actually is, the Conservative group have the highest percentage of councillors who are Masons in over 25 years.

They all got a slap, But now will come the, we are listening drivel ,as they slouch back into default mode?
But with the loss of 1200,38 seats, the 200 Tory MPs that kept the Jona in number 10 the blowback will be very HOT .

Yes tories took a pounding as expected
but closer to home the tories increased majority bucking the trend.
labour didn't involve itself in the communities prior to elections
I even offered to help the labour candidate in elms vale who refused and went alone and lost
Labour now needs to let the dust settle in Dover and have a major enquiry into what went wrong.
they should today be in control of DDC instead tories and indies made gaines
I have said before today labour will be out of number 10 for 25 years unless it involves itself in communities
they probably wont and will remain an opposition party

Pam Brivo works hard for her community and deserved to win.I still feel St Radigunds gets neglected. There are good and bad on both sides.I would liked to have seen the Liberals take a few seats.Doesnt hurt to have opposition.Glad David Hannant got back.

 Hi sue
As I said the tories would get in easily
I won't comment on labour cllrs as I don't share your view
D hannant didn't turn. Up for count which all noticed
Prob didn't expect to win
R Walkden left count expecting to lose and had to return when we won
Labour should have done better and been in control of DDC
Now there in opposition another 4 years
They don't seem to learn
