Pablo - you are welcome to your conspiracy theories. Good luck with that
RB - well if you stopped listening back at the point in time when that statement was made it suggests your subsequent posts are just the rantings of an angry old man shouting at the clouds because In your own words you’d stopped listening. Pointless.

A forum to discuss, share or simply present a point of view does not equate to bias just because it doesn’t accord with your view.
Going by your comments you give the impression you think he is guilty therefore biased. A shame you fail to respect the fact that you are not the only person allowed to have an opinion on
this forum.

Sardine- not a conspiracy theory, but obviously too close to the actualité for your liking!

I do think he’s guilty. I said so. FFS
You haven’t offered an opinion. You’ve just banged on about yourself and that you find the victims accounts odd - without elaboration but presumably based on the very press reports which Pablo suggests are not not to be relied upon
What a confused little bunch you are.

Will pop back later to see if verdict is out and what other amusing posts you throw out there. Maybe at some point you will focus on the proceedings but I guess you’d have to be there to form any view according to you guys.

Blimey. Lots of cages being rattled on here. Is the verdict due today then?

Aw shucks. My cover is blown yet again. You never know, one day I might get forgiveness and be able to post using my real monicker. Then again, I doubt that. There are a few more things worthy of comment on the LoveDover farce, particularly when they deign to publish an up-to-date set of accounts.
On other matters, I quite like sardines. Great mashed in olive oil and grilled on toast.

I love the Mills Brothers. Which was JS: lead or harmony?
John Stuart Mill was a pretty decent baritone, though. But I think he'd find anyone who thought the press reality's mirror naive in the extreme. For a number of reasons (not limited to political affiliation, institutional culture, degree of government proximity, audience, news values, 'fact' selection, omission, framing...) it's best to approach the press and broadcast media with maximum caution, a long memory (or a deep filing cabinet) and a degree in literary hermeneutics. No conspiracy needed, just open eyes.
Also, on the topic, anyone who's done jury service will know they can be fickle things indeed.

The judge will certainly emphasise to the jury that he is not on trial for being an unfaithful husband, however whether that sinks in is to be seen. As WGS says, juries have minds of their own and the members of this one may or may not know the difference between a playful pat and a lecherous grope. The role of the defence counsel is to generate sufficient ‘reasonable doubt’ in the minds of the jury to make a guilty verdict unlikely. By focusing on the salacious details, the press have effectively put Charlie on trial for his doubtful morals which, however much you may disapprove of them, do not constitute an offence in themselves.

Oh please. The jury system isn't perfect but it's the best we have. It's up to the judge to sum up and direct as he/she sees fit. Why is everyone so keen to anticipate failure on the jury's behalf?

I do not think any of us "anticipate failure" we just hope they reach a verdict purely on the facts.

The case wasn't listed yesterday; but this morning the judge is summing up.

Jury SHOULD be directed to ignore media. Always have been.
