Does anyone know when Charlie will be back in the fold?
theres a real danger of letting labour in by the back door the closer we get to the next general election

Why is that a danger?

One sheep out of the pen doesn't make a lot of difference. And when the farmer's ready the dogs'll have him back in again.

It's one of the seats they need to retain.
Whilst they may be attempting to clip his wings because he rebelled has it worked?

Perhaps Labour have handed the seat to Charlie on a plate? A strong local candidate might have ousted him should he be returned to the fold. As it stands, I'm not convinced that our parachuted lady will garner much local support. If the Tory grandees in Westminster can't find it within themselves to reinstate him, what will they do, I wonder.

I think the candidate will do better than people are expecting, her experience of running the successful campaign in Canterbury will hold her in good stead. Should the Tories select another candidate rather than Charlie I would expect a Labour win.

It would be a deliciously interesting election if our dear ole Chas ran on an Independent ticket, with the Tories selecting a new candidate. Political suicide for the Tories I would suggest - so it won't happen, the whips office will tidy it up before an election is called (which will give us an indication of when the next GE will happen).

Perhaps because they tend to liaise with the CPS, not the Dover Forum.

I feel sorry for Charlie and his family having this hanging over his head for so long, he must have some powerful enemies in Westminster. At least Charlie is being left alone by the media and did not have his house searched by the police in front of all the media like Cliff Richard before being cleared.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

FWIW I spoke to 'sources close to Charlie' today. He still knows nothing of any allegations.

Sue
I don't think he can do much else.
I don't share his politics or his approach of avoiding people
But he has been treated, and is being treated badly

Things don't always work out exactly as we'd like, but in recent weeks there's been some real success including:
- Ensuring seats were added to a bus shelter in Deal
- Getting a post box installed in Shepherdswell
- Forcing train companies to change their contingency plan
- Overturning a parking fine for a Whitfield resident
- Cancelling a congestion charge for a Deal resident
- Reinstating healthcare funding for a Martha Trust resident
- Getting police to take action against tenants dealing drugs in Dover
- Making prosecutors target a deadly drug after a Deal teenager died
- Getting streetlights reinstalled in Eastry
- Finding a homeless person accommodation in Dover
- Getting inspectors to review immigration marriage fraud for a victim.
