At the moment the tail is wagging the dog with voters ignored and far to many of our elected politicians thinking of themselves.
Makes me wonder if it is worth even voting in future.

It might not have changed but it is certainly more in the public domain so we all know what a huge bunch of two faced liars so many of our representatives seem to be.

indeed Jan
not really changed though
Maybe through the referendum people are more aware and thought there voice might be heard.
I invited some time ago all the cllrs from all the parties at that time in the priory, Maxton and elms vale ward to the community committee
2 couldn't be bothered to come
1 had to be reminded
We were just trying to find out what vision our elected officials had for the ward.
1 didn't know what a vision was
1 spoke about the ward she lived in(which couldn't be compared)
1 didn't know where clarendon place was(yet was elected 2 years previously)
What this did do was to highlight some of our elected reps didn't appear to have the communities interests at heart

So according to Yellowhammer
a) there may be a problem with food supplies and
b) the poorest are likely to be most affected
Surely there must be some way of making scratch-cards edible?

Serious question. Having read #Yellowhammer do I
a) Stock up on dog food as there may be supply problems post-Brexit?
b) not bother as things are going to be so bad we'll be forced to eat our pets?

I would take more interest in the latest scare if it said what
important foodstuffs might be in short supply. I do not consider things like tasteless Spanish strawberries or similar delights
to be important.
Medicines keep being mentioned surely these should be no problem if orders are placed at the correct time rather than last minute, they should not deteriorate past use by date, even if on a lorry for an extra couple of days.
I wonder if such silly predictions were drawn up when we or Europe had problems in the past or did common sense prevail.

#4494 Trade in your dog for a cat; much cat food comes from Thailand (!) and the supply chain should be unaffected.

That is good to know our cats can scoff to their little hearts content
, I guess should doom prevail we can all eat cat food.

And when we run out of cat food we can eat the cats.

So with all the brexit uncertainty, would it be a good time to get a cat or just the cat food?
So so much to think about with the release of this operation yellowhammer stuff!

I am beginning to think it is time to think about hunting out the plans for that nuclear bunker that we were advised we needed all those years ago.

I think it's time for the elected officials to work in the interests of the electorate at all levels
And officers only carry out the wishes of the elected cllrs and not run councils

Unfortunately Keith, and I speak from experience, most councillors, quite understandably, do not have the knowledge, expertise, experience, education etc - and in many case intelligence - to understand which of their 'wishes' are actually attainable.
Some do manage and master their 'brief' over time. They are very much the exceptions.
Others just take the money and run, and in spite of being the Portfolio Holder for 'Whatever' know damn all about 'whatever' and especially legislation pertaining to it, happy to read out statements or send out press releases prepared by others about things the do not understand.
Having spent over two decades in the Home Office I can assure you that the same goes for MPs and their relationship with Civil Servants.

Hi bob
I do understand and iv had many discussions with many different cllrs and I always recall K mills telling me he has to work for a living and hasn't the time to run the council
Others either don't understand or get by themselves and in cozy clubs so don't want to rock the boat
IF you take Kevin at his word means it doesn't matter who you vote for none are going to lead the councils so why bother?
