One in ten hit by CoronaVirus fraud!
https://www.moneywise.co.uk/news/2020-05-26/one-10-fall-victim-coronavirus-fraud
You ain't seen nothing yet! DHSS told to accept ALL claims for Universal Credit. Loadsa money pushed into failing retailers. Tramps living the high life at Travel Lodge.
Meanwhile, as I've probably said before, half the country thinking they are 'furloughed' whereas their firms will never survive and they are actually unemployed.
Meanwhile Cummings may or may not have broken some non enforceable guidelines?

Ah but Cap'n its about the "optics" as the PR droids and Press Secs say when it comes to Cummings, whether what he did was acceptable or not is frankly irrelevant in (our post truth) politics it is all about how it looks and how its interpreted and in this case it smacks of "one rule for them in power and another for the rest of us".

See 'stonking majority' and 'yesterdays chip papers'.
There are few things more amusing than watching the country wrapped up in one of its 'moral outrages'
It used to lead to people being burnt at the stake. Fortunately it 'only' results in people's family homes being beset nowadays.
Four years from now nobody will remember Cummings' name.

If Cummings had simply said sorry the whole debacle would be forgotten even sooner.
It is his dubious reasoning especially his eyesight jolly that has simply sown doubts about his integrity. At the moment I could not care less whether he goes or stays as the damage has already been done.

Ah, but some heretics were 'helped along' by a kindly executioner with a bag of gunpowder before the flames melted them. If DC does go he'll get a cushy number somewhere anyway, and some other spad'll take his chair. Meanwhile the new, improved bigger-than-ever-before big State will make it mandatory for each of us to have our own Groom of the Stool and examining doctor (for which we'll have to pay, of course).

Well, at least you will pay through your taxes for our 'wonderful' NHS, rather then through an insurance based scheme, as in Germany and most of the world.

It was a clear breach of both the letter and spirit of the rules. The vast majority of the public think this. Nathalie Elphicke has had to turn off replies on her Twitter feed when posting to support him, so she knows this too. The question now is whether or not any police action follows - if not, I do feel they'll have to review every single case that has been prosecuted so far.

"The vast majority of the public"
As evidenced by Natalies Twitter feed?

The more blinkered or arse licking Tory faithful fail to understand that by continuing to support him what a bunch of hypocrites they are when telling the rest of us to obey the rules.

Absolutely! She had to turn the comments off, knowing full well that there would be huge disagreement with her position. They've given huge ground in the polls. All good stuff!

It's a sideshow; the rules need to go. Infections peaked in mid-March. The curve is the same everywhere, whatever action was taken. It's obvious from their actions the elite don't consider the thing a major risk anymore, if they ever did.

Dig deep in your pockets!
UK furlough scheme now covers 8.4 million workers: The scheme to pay wages of workers on leave because of coronavirus has now cost £15bn.
When is someone going to tell them most are actually 'unemployed' and about to go on Universal Benefit?

Even the worst case estimates for job losses and economic contraction do not get close to your pronouncement of "most of the 8.4m are going to lose their jobs".
The BoE for example has given a range from roughly 2m to just over 3m whose jobs will go as a result of the recession stemming from this situation

Honestly, I have have been impressed with the Government’s furlough scheme and willingness to help the many, not just the few. The extension to October was fantastic news and even better, that a return to austerity has already been ruled out. The debt can be paid back over a very, very, very long time given that interest rates are set to be rock bottom for years to come.

Woo Hoo! Yet more money from Rishi tonight putting off the inevitable.
Just wait until all the companies which are non profitable and all the people who have non jobs (many of which would have collapsed over the past six months) ALL go tits up at the same time.

Interested to know what your alternative would be, Captain?

I think you misunderstand, NM. I imagine he's pretty chuffed that his government of revolutionary zealots is using a public health pretext to effect a draconian political, economic, legal, social and behavioural reorganisation that could not have been achieved democratically. Meanwhile, expect more off-target blunt arrows fired from a cracked bow with a ragged string, for his quiver's full to bursting.
