He seems a talented chap and should be put in charge of something important. I'm thinking Freshco, Weatherfield.

Can't imagine why I might have held that view after this evening's fiasco. Taking me seriously now, Cap'n?

Yup. Boris pissing off a load of people who would never vote for him anyway. Meanwhile the M1 is full of camera crews and journalists heading back from their day out in Durham.

Yup. People like Tim Montgomerie, Stephen Barclay and even some with real integrity like Roger Gale.

I am sick and tired of listening to and reading the comments from those blinkered people who attempt to justify what Cummings did.....
There is no plausible excuse. Maybe I am supposed to feel sorry for someone who obviously has so few friends in the whole London area who would care for his child on a very temporary basis.
Captain, at least those media people are doing their job rather than inexcusable and unnecessary 200 mile trips. BTW Boris has definitely pissed me off and I voted for him.

I must say, it is a laugh, and kind of reassuring, to see the Tory self-immolating pantomime continue beyond Brexit tangles into 'lockdown' tangles. But it is a bit of a sideshow to the main event, which is that a political class no wiser than schoolboys abolished our liberties and trashed our economy because of a virus. The media, as a bunch, failed to oppose this 'lockdown' from the start, but rather hysterically demanded it, then propagandised for it, then simply chipped away at some of its minor elements. They are now missing the point: one man's journey from London to Durham is a non-event in a free country, and this fuss shows just how unfree we now are. Cummings should be in the stocks with the rest of the miscreants, so we can throw rotting fruit at the lot of them until they admit their huge mistake, reverse it, and pick up the bill.

I'll probably be proved wrong but I'd guess that the pressure will just get too great from the Tory great and good and Boris will ceremoniously dismiss the odious, swivelled-eyed disrupter in an effort to shore up his flagging support both within the party and without.
Will it make any difference? I doubt it. He'll remain very much the eminence grise, hidden initially but then re-introduced after a suitable period of penance. Why? Because Boris is palpably useless. He likes being PM but not doing PM. The agenda will not change nor will the real hands guiding it.

And not one of the press asked after the health of Don's child who had been ambulanced for an overnight stay in hospital.
Instead each made a short speech about some poor bugger who was unable to attend his mum's funeral and suggested that Don takes up sackcloth and ashes, especially as he has the ideal place to isolate his family, and indeed transport to take them there, which so far I and many others, have been unable to provide for many single parents and general wastrels through my taxes.

Your emotional intelligence is touching, Cap'n. Amazing how you can turn it on in accordance with the suitability of the recipient.
Given the man's penchant for playing the sympathy card, I am sure we would all have heard about it soon enough had the little boy been in any real discomfort. Pity about the poor bugger who missed his mum's funeral though. And the countless others who have lost friends and relatives due to the incompetence and callousness of the “herd immunity, protect the economy, and if that means some pensioners die, too bad” school of thought.
Pathetic.
Oh and by the way, your hero's name is Dominic. Shortened to D-O-M. Perhaps you were getting confused with Don Corleone.

I wonder if the ambulance driver would have got behind the wheel whilst experiencing 'dodgy eyesight'.

Makes absolute sence. A bit like driving round the pub car park to see if you're too pissed to drive home?

In the other hand I was talking to a NHS surgeon and an anaesthetist over the weekend who are absolutely creaming it with the overtime.

That Marcher fellow seems to spend a lot of time looking for NHS jobs. Has failure made him sour?

Interestingly (?) my anaesthetist friend tells me there have been close to zero appendectomies since lock down. Normally only 1 in 50 is 'dangerous'. Are they the latter day tonsillectomy? Everybody has it but very few need it?
