Sorry but can not agree with that Dover does remember the fallen all the year round .You sound upset but please do not think that Dover does not remember, the town has more services all the year then any other town

As we know soldiers left from Folkestone and in return coffins and the injured arrived back in Dover so it is only right that the commemorations planned for Dover happen in 2018.

I agree Pierre, but sadly some people don't seem to understand respect.

Vic is right Dover has many memorials.A few years ago i attended a service when more names were added to the memorial and was blessed by the Bishop of Dover.I stated in an earlier post i laid 44wreaths during my term as Chairman. We have the wonderful memorial at Marine station,The one at St Margarets Bay remembering the Dover Patrol,Two on the seafront THE merchant Navy, and the the Channel Dash.We remember The Armed forces on Armed Forces day which is in a few
weeks time.
I'm not disrespectful but all families have lost loved ones.My husband 33yeats ago.I can remember him in my own way.He lives on through his children.
I stress again The Town Council look after the memorial and the gardens very well.Recently a new bench has been placed near to it..Dover have a lovely service every year.
Not forgetting of course the Herald memorial and the gardens on the sea front. Many of us recall that terrible day in 1987 .
Yes Dover does remember .

Sorry but Dover does very little, VE Day - nothing, VJ Day - nothing, compared to Folkestone Dover is way down the list. Yes we have a new bench which is great but look where DTC stuck the flag pole !!! The flag is rarely flown. My original post was asking why the wreaths laid on memorial Sunday in Dover were taken away & dumped so quickly & i still don't think I've had an answer I,m happy with. A DTC Councillor once said that the union flag if flown near the memorial would spoil the view of the memorial, thousands of men died fighting under that flag - what a disrespectful thing to say & that's how I feel about wreaths being taken away its lack of respect for other people's feelings.

My suggestion to you Ms Mac is to talk to the Town Clerk .Several of us on here have given you very good exclamations as to what happens and does happen in Dover to respect the fallen.Re the Memorial I recall that no more names would be added .I think the wording on the memorial reflects this..The flag flies at all times over the Town Hall.
I do wonder if you attend any of the services I mentioned. We now have hand made poppies attached to the railings for Remberance day .The railings are always kept painted.I feel the comments towards the Dover Town Council unjustified.

I assume you mean explanations ? The TC is the most difficult person to talk to so we won't go there, the flag pole almost toucning the Council offices most days does not fly a flag & it was DDC who when asked if a flag could be flown permanently over the Town Hall responded immediately & now the flag does fly permanently. I try & attend as many services as I can but unlike you who seems to have endless time to lay wreaths I am sometimes responsible for 3 grandkids & my family are extremely important to me. My personal opinion on DTC is obviously different to yours & I think this town would be better off without them, it's just another layer of government which is far too political. I wouldn't dream of disparaging the hand made poppies they are lovely.

Sorry for the spelling mistake.Yes I had endless time I was a Councillor for 27 years and as I stated earlier my husband died 33 years ago so I had three children without a father. So when I laid wreath I was very aware of what it is like to be widowed. However some one dies it is always very sad to those loved ones left behind.
I found serving my community very rewarding.I think a meeting with the Deputy Town Mayor and the Town Clerk could be very useful.Much better to speak direct.
It's very obvious you are very unhappy with what DTC does so speak to those who can make a difference.Sometimes it's better to move on

This another battle of words, much like the flag pole issue, possibly by the same anti DTC group?

Much discussion on here at the time, post 19 is informative and factual for those who don't want to wade through all the posts.

Why does an unelected person have the right to say no to people wanting their loved ones added to the memorial this is not right Sorry but i would be insulted having someone that is not elected by the people telling me that my loved one was unworthy to be carved at the Town & its people s war memorial anyone thinking this is right needs to look at their priorities

It's not right absolutely but good luck trying change it Ms AB is a law unto herself and does as she pleases, and the elected members of DTC who could affect change are scared of her or indebted! I think she knows where the skeletons are buried or buried them

Well said Suzie Sue you're absolutely right. Jan Higgins I started this discussion because I feel strongly about DTC removing wreaths after such a short time & yes I do have issues with DTC in my opinion they should go, but these are my words my thoughts & my actions they have nothing to do with any 'group' having said that I seem to recall that you were fairly active in said 'group' ( flag ) at the beginning were you not ?
Reginald Barrington you have described AB exactly she has complete power over every thing & everybody, have you ever attended a Council meeting ? It's a real eye opener she wields such power !! .

Well well I wondered how long it would be before your sarcasm got the better of you, sadly you're wasting your time Howard Mcsweeney in trying to wind me up. I have no time for fools so don't bother replying to my posts you will not get an answer.

Lyn Mac you said " you were fairly active in said 'group' ( flag ) at the beginning were you not ? "
Yes I went to one meeting which I had been led to believe was simply to meet Augusta for the first time for a coffee, not some committee meeting. I left your group when I realised the agenda was not simply about getting the flag but was also more about DTC bashing. There was also the fact that your out spoken leader Augusta Pearson could not take polite criticism about the way she was behaving.
I said group in my previous post because this present campaign and its wording reminded me so much of the flag fiasco and Augusta. At least you can not accuse me of not replying to your post.
