My view still stands ,but i do feel that wreaths are destroyed too quickly after a service here and it saddens me when at my Grandparents little Village memorial flowers & wreaths are there all year round always has been some animosity between the French & English but they still do not forget the great sacrifices British Men & Women made in a bid for their freedom flags of all nations fly proudly .My Grandfather a few yrs ago when he came here said that it was a crying shame that Dover had no such memorial especially when it was for 5 long years continually bombarded by the Germans with many lives lost he loved the war memorial but felt it was bare and cold IF this Woman AB cannot adhere to the people of Dover on what they want for their memorial maybe she should A pass it onto someone that will care & tend or 2 resign

Yes you're right Vic Matcham time it stopped, every time I post on here ( which isn't often) someone brings up my association with the flag. Why is that so bad ? We got a flag in the end - even though it is situated in the wrong place. We elect these Councillors why shouldn't they comply with the publics wishes. I have made it perfectly clear that I don't agree with DTC - which is my right - I have always voted so that gives me the right to question them. My original post was about wreaths I didn't mention flags or my association with the group - others did. Is this what will happen every time I post on here ? If those that complain about me stood up to the likes of AB & her cronies instead of wingeing on here Dover might be a lot better & cleaner.
By the way Jan Higgins Augusta Pearson is not my 'leader' & there is no 'campaign' I simply wanted to know why our wreaths were removed so quickly from our memorial having been to a few other places on holiday & noted that theirs were still present. As for bashing DTC they are answerable to the public who elected them we have every right to question them.

Miss Lyn Mac.
I know nothing about you or the flag.
I think some of your points and right and good about the wreaths ,but if they are dead then I think they should be removed ,but nothing stopping any one putting new ones there. But I think it is down to members of the public to do that if they wish to.
The town memorial is being looked after better now then it was before I went on the town council it was about that time that a vote was taken for the town council take over and keep it looking nice and that is still going on today .I have nothing to do with the council now but one thing they have done right is looking after the memorial.
But all this does not stop you posting on the forum and putting your own views forward so please carry on doing so.

Move on .I understand DTC were behind the placing of the lovely crown and tubs in Market Square.Time to talk about and comment on the positive.

Indeed Sue, concentrate on the positive; as I do not currently live in the town (but are returning) I haven't seen first hand the Crown and Tubs - but must say the pictures I have seen on-line look wonderful and reflect the huge Crown that was erected in the same spot in 1953!

Yes I saw that one in 1953 and the whole town looked great.

I noticed this week that the wreaths are still at the River memorial tied to the sides and made me think the same thing,
