This is a real shame. The White Horse was the pub of choice for us on the odd occasion when we went to a pub. The beer was good, the staff lovely and the atmosphere wonderful. I hope that things work out for Jeanette, who is a lovely person and who does not deserve to have such bad news imposed on her at such short notice.
Very glad to announce that Jeanette will be looking after the bar at Blakes on Sunday afternoons until she gets sorted with the White Horse, starting from this coming Sunday 23 Jan.

fascinating cutting, had a bit of trouble picking out some of the print, the bits at the end caught my eye.
coaches from st margarets to the pub every day, must have been in vic's drinking days.
also the 5 a.m. opening for shift workers, when i first started work in london there were pubs near docks and fruit markets that had similar licences, the people that worked nearby finished work early morning so to them it was the evening and they wanted a few beers before going home to bed.
We had a pub out side the D.E.W. it was call the town arms and that could open in the late afternoons so we could go for a drink because of the very hot work we was doing, but the younger ones were not coming back after one pint they were coming back well over the top. the boss tryed to get the pub not to open in work hours ,that did not work,so he took over the pub and had it pulled down.
