Roger Husk highlights an interesting possibility: perhaps the flowers started to die off when the toilets closed......! Think about it.

The flowers will return in June .I spoke with the officers on Monday .Walmer Parish Council contibute to the flowers in their patch .My understanding is Dover Town Council do not contribute
If people are so unhappy why not fund raise for a few plants however as I have stated previously the planters were left fallow .,and have been refurbished ..

And if you have a dog then you can bark yourself...whats the bloody point eh? I sometimes feel its hardly worth posting on issues that effect the town..nothing EVER gets done.
In contrast I walked to the car this morning and saw 2 teams of council workers, one dropping off hanging baskets and the other with a mechanical lift putting them up.
Was this on the busy High st - No
Was this on one of the shopping alleys -No
It was on a back street with nothing but a few offices and converted flats..

Sue we have offered commercial sponsorship of tubs and flower displays. Roger said he put that to DDC and they were not interested.

Why do we have to consider raising funds for shrubs and flowers? That's what the council is supposed to do, isn't it ? It is everywhere else, as indicated above

i agree you can see from tory peter's idea to the council that it was rejecte
then you wonder why the town looks bad.
im all for fund raising but as has been said the council has a role to play.
my council tax is very high for what we get

Long distance photo of the guys planting this morning down on the main road on the seaward side 300 yards short of the docks. I have a feeling though this isnt anything to to with the town but probably a highways thing..although not sure...any clarification?

the main problem as i see it is that while there are 2 councils it is easy for each to blame the other and making sure that nothing gets done.

Keith far too much of your council tax goes on salaries and pension contributions to the officers. You do however pay the lowest council tax in East Kent so perhaps DDC can be excused for being a little tight in other ways. Not so the Town Council, however, who have the highest precept for miles around yet sit on hundreds of thousands of pounds of unnecessary reserves.

as you can see there is more colour from the weeds growing out of the wall than in the plant areas.
the normally attractive riverside centre garden has caught the bug too.

Keith, what is with this (tory) Peter? Is it some private joke because Peter has already said he is not a Tory.

Its Keith's way of irritating people who don't agree with him so much that they stop posting. I have thicker skin than that, Jan.

keith would leave him alone then.

Keith, so Peter supports the Tories at the moment, that does not explain why you keep mentioning it.
We all know you are left of centre, you tell us so in nearly every post.
