perhaps next year if you can see the castle from your house it will extra £100
and in 2014 if you have seagulls in your garden extra £200
after 2015 labour will be back in and all charges dropped to win the local election !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is this about?

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Did you know that, by law, we can all individually have the right to ask our councils exactly what our tax is spent on? In detail. Ditto HMRC. We can ask for reasonably itemised bills to see what we are paying for in relative detail. That leaves an opportunity to refuse to pay a certain amount if it goes on something with which we have ethical or otherwise concerns...............

Does this mean I have to grow larger trees? or start shooting everything that flies over my air space?
Turn my garden into a public area?
Is this Fact or Fiction? please clarify what your post is about Ron.

Not as mad as it seems, there was a plan for views from your house to be included in the next rateable value review - don't know if that's still on the cards though as it was John Prescott's wonderplan!

Sorry Howard I'm ignorant to this one.
When you say garden waste do you mean grass cuttings and stuff like that?
I have a time saving garden with nothing like that, do I still have to pay for a service I will not use?

Just as an aside Ray, JP's house looks very impressive on Google earth, even more impressive stood in front of it.

any garden waste, weeds, grass cuttings etc.
you only pay if you sign up to the scheme, doesn't sound like you need it.

Just had the following in this minute from..
WENDY HANSELL
************************************************
Hi Paul,
I just felt that I must comment on the garden waste collection. I would like to know the following ' What public consultation took place before adding a charge for green waste collection?
How many people took the decision?
I am lucky to have a very large garden and up until the introduction of this service kept a compost heap going. Thinking that I was helping DDC to meet it's targets all my green waste (between 1 & 5 green bags were put out for collection) Now they are going to charge me I will not be taking part and will be withdrawing from the food collection because I don't want to rely on it and then get charged!!!
Before this happened I would congratulate DDC for encouraging a culture of recycling but they seem to be looking once again at the short term rather than the long term.

Many thanks Wendy always good to hear from you.
Sound comments that i would endorse.

Phew, thank you for that ( changed the words before posting )
I think IF I do get any I could resort to leaving it in a quiet country lane somewhere....along with the odd tv and building material.
ALL RIGHT I'm only joking, but others won't be.

That's right Ian. More frightening is the fact that KCC are considering withdrawing the ability of businesses to use their waste recycling facilities as it's not something they have to offer. It could lead to pressure on even honest businesses.

I must admit that we will also decline from paying for my green waste to be taken away. So we'll be taking it up the allotment from now on. We do try to do our own but we also have a big garden and sometimes you just need a bit of help to get rid of it. When people say just take it up the tip is all very well if you drive other than that people will be forced into paying for it. How fair is that!
