I will miss him so very much. He truly had great courage, humour and intelligence. I don't know what to say to be honest, I am left speechless other than to say he was a real gentleman and there is a gap where he stood.

As you say Bern a real gentleman. Colin was one of the few members of this forum that I have met, he came into the shop introduced himself and immediately made me feel welcome on here.
A very sad loss my thoughts are with his family.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I can't say I knew Colin well but we met half a dozen times. I do recall last summer when we stood outside Mote's Bulwark and discussed local history like old friends! His photos were inspirational, he was chipper and positive to the end. An example to us all. Cheers Colin, you will be missed.

colin and his family were lifted by the comments and encouragement from members here during the long illness, i feel sure that they will be lifted again by the responses on this thread.
rather ironic that colin always drew attention to big numbers on the forum, this thread is topic number 5000.
no doubt he is having a smile now.

Just logged on, saw this and am so very very sad to learn of Colin's passing. I didn't know Colin's relapse was as serious as it obviously was. I suppose from reading the other thread and of the visiting Macmillan nurses should have realised. I hope dear Colin that your passing was painless and that you are now at peace. A truly gentle honest man in the short time that I knew you.

PaulB, perhaps you could start an In Memoriam section in the forum where members who have passed away can be remembered with photographs, members' recollections and tributes?

Very sad to hear of Colin's passing, a very nice chap with a great sense of humour, I'll miss his photos, quips and interesting comments.
Thanks for letting us know. Howard.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, R.I.P. Colin

Peter, I had the same idea myself last night. I was thinking of Colin and his photos, and thought it would be a lovely memorial to him to display his photos and maybe some words from his friends here, and it seemed a natural hop then to extend that to other members as well. I was reflecting on the way this community has built and grown and how inclusive it is, despite the falling out that happens. Colin contributed significantly to that.
