About time
I could never understand unions, that supposedly support British workers.
Giving money to a Labour party that do not support British workers.
But Labour will be ok
Blair and mandelson will dig deep into there £50 million pockets to help out

Milly made a biold move on this one,
The GMB union who are the most recent to announce big cutbacks in funding to the labour party, milly is taking a big gamble here.
Of course the labour party at all levels gets this support, but more recent times has seen milly want to distant the party from the unions, that's fine till hes up for selection again lol
Milly is taking a big gamble here, hoping I presume by distancing itself from the unions to be seen then as a more centre left party and gain finance elsewhere.
Of course there is a down side to all this for the labour party.
1; the general local union members are usually the foot soldiers, and by distancing the party, the union members may be
thinking, why should I bother?
2; How will elections be financed bearing in mind the Tories spend being so high after finance from big business
such as Wonga.com
3; Will milly establish the labour as being any different from the Tories?
4; Wll this cost him seats?

i am just surprised that the gmb didn't take this action a lot earlier when it became clear that the reds were leaving their members worse off.

Just to clear up a point, the funding is for ANY political party (not just the reds)
anyway Keith B
you may recall I advised on this forum that the RMT union many years took a decision to leave the T.U.C. as they didn't feel it to be radical enough!!!
and more recently withdrew national funding to the labour party, and withdrew support to any RMT sponsored MP who did not support the ideals of the RMT
Many(if not all) the RMT sponsored MP;s lost the financial support
quite a hit for the party

Don't really think it will cost him seats because:
The unhappy people who normally vote labour but voted tory last time won't want cameron and his bunch of chinless wonders back in.
The lib dems have lost all credibility with anyone but a fanatical supporter, if there is such a thing.
Ukip are being made to look stupid, the same as they did to the BNP, because of a real fear that they may gain a few seats, and are an alternative.
Only leaves labour to vote for if you are disinclined for the above reasons to vote for anyone else, and want to use your vote.

People will not forget or have forgiven Labour's economic incompetence, their open door immigration, their 'political correctness', their criminal rights act - so faced with a choice at the ballot box will not be stupid enough to vote them in.

Keith - we will have to see what the outcome is, the point is that people will not be stupid enough to vote for a Labour government.
The big question is really whether they will be bright enough to see that we need an overall Conservative majority.

Ahhh but Keith - we are still suffering the effects of their economic incompetence.
Tell me - do you support the criminal rights act? Most people don't
I know that you love political correctness - most don't
Do you support Labour's immigration free for all? Most don't
Most people are clever enough to see what a Labour government really means.
They can see that they have not changed their 'economic spots' that oaf Balls is still there and they still think they can spend their way out of a debt crisis they created.
They can also see how Milliminor is totally ineffectual, a boy playing at leading.
Vote for them? I don't think they will be that daft.
The Conservative also have a problem.
Hampered by the LibDems
Cameron far too willing to give way to them and far too keen on social liberalism and 'green' issues
Osborne not doing enough to cut government spending
Not tough enough on the EU
At the end of the day I prefer to have the Conservatives problems than Labour's - they can be put right with an overall Conservative majority. Labour will always be economically incompetent as it arises from their misguided priorities of spending not creating wealth.
