We will just have to buy more torches, like we did years ago - there is a lot of wasted light around us.

Good idea Kath, but where do I get the other pair of hands from, trying to manage a flight of steps, a walking stick, and a handrail on the steps, and a bag. maybe clench it between my teeth.

Humphy, you will have to treat yourself to one of those head torches or stay indoors

. My son-in-law will be bringing the one he uses at work home with him.
Steps should remain lit but that calls for common sense not something any of our councils are known to use.

Glow in the dark road markings have been unveiled on a 500m stretch of highway in the Netherlands.
The paint contains a "photo-luminising" powder that charges up in the daytime and slowly releases a green glow at night, doing away with the need for streetlights... howard mcsweeney1- Location: Dover

Common sense or May elections I wonder if the latter is the real reason for the about turn.

I was told at the same meeting after I got on about the lights he told us all if the lights go out in your street and the public of that street want them to stay on then just phone the Highways and that will be done. Also the D.D.C. own some of the streets lights ,not many know that but it is true, but again we was told that the ones owned by the D,D,C, stay on,

I cannot see the point of lobbying Deal Town Council for something they have no control over.

Clair, Charlie and the Dover Express are all claiming credit for the u-turn by KCC, the next thing will be to change all the lights in Kent.
How many years will that take?

Well we can't really commit to a number there are so many varying factors to be taken into consideration, while we understand your right to have the bulb changed we would need you to put your reasons on paper and present them to us for future discussion at a time to be decided. once the decision to change your bulb has been made and if the decision is in favour we would expect a planning and consultation phase to commence with 60 days of that decision at that time we woild then carry out a risk assessment and place the job out for tender. In the mean time we would kindly ask you not to use your light.
regards KCC.
