Sorry about the title but I thought with all the doom and gloom on the forum at the moment I might try to cheer you all up a bit.
Now I have my very own private hide and the subjects no more than 3 feet away, I'll be able to get some triffic shots of birds.
It'll be very quiet over the next few months but will try my best to get as many as possible.
So I'll start with the Blue Tit.

10:4179410I am looking forward to seeing some more lovely pictures Ian.
Watching the numerous different birds in the garden is one of the things I really miss since I moved back to Dover. I never thought I would say this but I even miss the extremely noisy rookery that was just over the road from my little bungalow up in Suffolk.

If I where in a position to bring you any other sort I would oblige but I don't think the wife would approve.

21:0779524You could do with rephrasing that again Mel.
Just how many men with naughty thoughts do you get visiting your garden then?

08:2779589I bought those bird-feeding fat-balls and the eating frame for the birds, so hope to see tits and other birds in the garden soon.
Lovely photo Ian

10:1579599The RSPB recommend those feeders so you can take the fat balls out of the nets, apparently some of the little dears have caught beaks and feet in them.
I usally buy a big tub of fat balls from the pet place in next to Nettos, more economical than small amounts and a useful tub when finished.

Nice tit pic, too.

11:4079614Unfortunately up here on the ninth floor we only get blasted pigeons, seagulls and the occasional magpie. I was surprised to hear on Radio 4 yesterday afternoon that the Herring Gull is very near to going on the endangered species list. There has been a dramatic decline in their numbers over the lat 10 years.
I guessed that the title would refer to the feathered kind. We were lucky enough, when I worked in Canterbury, to have a pair of long tailed tits in the garden. Very pretty birds.

12:0279618First class picture Ian, and how pleasant to have them in your garden. Alas, in our garden with a nice hedgerow behind, the bird population has been decimated this year, the reason being that a sparrow hawk has been coming frequently since the Spring, and I`ve personally witnessed it snatching two thrushes and two other birds. I haven`t experienced this in over 20 years of living here, and at the moment, I have no love for this bird of prey, and sincerly hope it clears off before next Spring as our hedgerow will become devoid of birdlife for another year.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.
