Yes, I was a bit OTT but it makes me mad! "Human Rights" - exactly what part of that do we disagree with? Howard, the economic migrants are in a different category to the persecuted, although even economic migration has justifications.

if everyone emigrated freely to where they would be financially better off the whole world would end up in norway or somewhere just as wealthy.

howard, allways found norway rather cold, rather like any thing north of the watford gap.
Peter - that is exactly the point - rights come complete with a full set of responsibilities. We earn the rights partly by our humanity, and partly through the responsibilities we discharge. Those unable to discharge them can earn them in a different way. But the clue is in the title: Human Rights.

Bern, human rights are respected all over the world!
May-be North Korea has a slightly different view on how to excercise them, but people can get married there and have children and listen to music.
There is no country in the world where human rights are not expounded in the constitution. I think you have a fixation on human rights, and believe that all over the world women and children are being beaten down in the gutters by men wearing black boots!

Cameron ,who appears to want to become seen as more of a man of the people and less of the rich land owning aristo' apparently wants Britain's Got Talent judge David Hasselhoff to be the Minister For Motivation. The Hoff said: "He's asked me. And I'm seriously considering a move into politics."
The pair bumped into each other this year when the Hoff, 58, was being given a tour of the House of Commons. They chatted about Cameron's plans for The Big Society and Hasselhoff promised to help.
The old current bun must be getting to our boy David.

DaveBoy Cameron has broken his pre- election pledge to slash the cost of politics by packing the House of Lords with his cronies. The PM vowed the Coalition would bring in a plan to save £12million a year by cutting the number of MPs from 650 to 600 at the next election.
They are the people we elect to represent our interests!
But Mr Cameron's move to appoint 117 new peers since the last General Election a year ago will cost taxpayers a staggering £18.25million a year - £6.25million a year more than his promised savings.
These are people we don't elect to represent us!.
As Bob Hoskins says in the movie 'A long Good Friday' just before being bumped off ... "Pledges I've *hit on them"..well I used a bit of poetic licence..

saw that earlier, if more than half the peers turned up at one time they could not all get into the chamber.
total waste of public money.

but cameron has done this all for a reason, and that is to stop the cobbled together govt from being challenged.
it again calls into question the need for the UNELECTED house of lords

The comments about the House of Lords made me smile.
All governments in the past have manipulated the Lords so they have more 'friends' in there.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

jan;
you are completely correct on this one,
so as they are unelected and positions being abused lets dismantle the whole thing and find a credible alternative
