Bob, Mogadon is old fashioned but works. Not that I use any of the hypnotics.

Town centre have had its day apart from one or two good shop,s there can be not blame held by councils or the public the would moves on and we have to a fined away to move forward with it I do not what or how that can be done, but in my of of thinking spending £1000,s of public money doing up old shops is not the way to go,we have to half the town and rebuild so it looks good and clean and keep it that way we have to pull down all the run down shops turn it into good family housing help the shop keepers that are in old shops to move to new ones and help for two years with low rents etc more car parks . but that just my way of thinking.

What you call "whinging" Paul is my democratic right to free speech, and people tell me "well done" for speaking out.
I do contribute actually, via a local body, for example writing positive press releases about the town and in various other ways. Watch "Dover: A Town on the Edge" and still say I am whinging. Ask Southeasten about my correspondence over the railway line. How come friends in places like Deal call me a "Dover booster "?
I have to say I have not always found a great willingness to welcome on board anyone who does want to contribute.
I don't think my vision of preventing the running down of the town centre while promoting urban bloat at Whitfield is a fantasy. Neither is fair treatment over Council Tax. The destruction of the farm I grew up on is beyond heartbreaking.
My experience of various bodies locally is of groups fighting each other for power and of indiiduals/ cabals fighting for primacy within these bodies. Not everyone involved, for sure. Maybe not yourself personally. But plenty do. Putting self-aggrandisement and party politics ahead of the good of Dover. It is one of the things holding Dover back and I have seen it at first hand.
My honest opinion is that people in power say "why don't you get elected" if they feel criticised, but in reality do all they can to resist anyone climbing aboard their ship.

Thank you Andrew.
I am well aware of your personal contributions to Dover's promotion & thank you for your work.
Who is resisting your contributions?
You can have Town centre promotion but without population, housing & employment growth which is accommodated in the Dover area neither the Town Centre or any leisure /retail offers will arrive or be sustainable.
As for primacy within these bodies , all I can say you need to deal with the decision makers not the local mouth pieces without ability to influence the decision makers. Sometimes that is not easy to identify with constant changes & moving funding streams.
If you want change & opportunities, target the strategic decision makers not the local wannabes.
If you do that & you have a serious evidence based case you are more likely yo be listened to, heard & you may just get on the priority decision list & be frustrated. Don't give up try again. Listen to the debriefs. You'll become credible.
I have to say apart from local, stupid, petty squabbles & fake local protests, the majority of serious local politicians have an agreed way forward, whichever party they belong to.
And I repeat my provocative comment 'Get Elected' & don't waste your time whinging on the sidelines.
You have talent, use it properly.

Putting myself up for election is not an option currently Paul. I have done in the distant past. Maybe one day again.
I do however fully intend to continue making a positive contribution to Dover's future in other ways, I can assure you.
