Woe!! I think us Irish are getting a bit of an unjustified kicking here. We're not all that bad! Not sure we are any more 'flame haired' than anywhere else, in fact I never knew anyone with flame hair...maybe there was Maureen O'Hara of course on de silver screen.
Going back to the battle of the somme and so on, or even as far as the troubles is not really relevent. We could talk in that way about the Germans but it doesnt matter any more in the modern age. Its all to do with the banking system. The Irish Banks did the same thing as the banks here in the UK, but they didnt have the reserves to call on, Ireland being much smaller, when it all went titzup. thats the only difference.
The EU fund will bail them out. The British offer of a loan, and lets not forget its only a loan which will be paid back with interest...is because the Irish economy works as a whole unit, both North and South, much as they do in Rugby. As the north is part of the UK but use the Irish banks you can see how it is all inextricably linked. I would imagine few chatteringg away here would know that. So if HMG dont want part of the UK to fail in shape of Norther Ireland, they dont have much choice.
And of course there is the large daily trading that takes place.
Its in the UK's interest to have a strong EuroZone. if all those countries are thriving, which they will again, they will buy more goods from the UK. This is how David Cameron is thinking as he said so himself the other day.
