Unfortunately they will all close eventually and as in Dover councils will pay private businesses for us to use their facilities.

Lets hope that never happens ,because it will turn away a lot of the public from going to the town centre.

The facilities are usually better in restaurants and pubs etc than official toilets.
Take the ones in Stembrook for example.

If it is part of the Community Toilet scheme then we have all paid for it out of our council tax.

I know that Dover Community Association have taken over Biggin Hall don't know whether the adjacent toilets will come under their control.

I remember using the public toilets that are now houses in Crabble Avenue and Elms Vale Road. I still look at them and think they are toilets (no offence to the current owners).
There was also a toilet by the railway on Tower Hamlets Road - that was rank!

Thinking of now closed toilets I can think of others, the one opposite the Cricketers in River, the gents by Hollis Motors and I think there was a gents near the Angling Club but not sure about that one.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Vandalism is the main reason for closure, a Councillor from Ashford was interviewed and she said that after refurbishing a toilet all the seats had been ripped out in a few days, that was the Ladies!!.
Folkestone bus station had some brand new ones installed, didn't last long for the usual reason.

I thought it was just Macari's and Macdonald's in the scheme but the Bull Inn is right next to the defunct Buckland Bridge toilets.

Same applies to Cafes and Restaurants Brian, I don't know the hours our remaining toilets are open.
I usually use the library when in town.
