Revealed: how Osborne misled MPs over the deficit
The Chancellor said that borrowing was forecast to fall this year but the small print of the
Office for Budget Responsibility document suggests otherwise.
Against expectations, George Osborne announced in his Budget speech that the deficit
was forecast to fall "this year and next". He insisted that this was the case even if special factors (such as the transfer of the
Royal Mail pension fund) are excluded.
But scour the small print of the Office for Budget Responsibility document and it emerges
that the Chancellor misled the House. As Table 4.36 shows, "excluding Royal Mail, APF and SLS transfers" (the final column),
borrowing is forecast to rise from £121bn in 2011-12 to £123.2bn in 2012-13. As in last year's Autumn Statement, when he
banked the 4G receipts early,
Osborne has once again relied on smoke and mirrors to disguise his fiscal failings.
This isn't mere pedantry; consistent deficit reduction is crucial to Osborne's narrative that "we're on the right track". But as the
figures below show, that is far from the case.

Graphs are bad for you Reg as they can clearly display the facts, as long as good information sources are used, facts are very inconvenient for you.

I can see that GO has been 'slammed' by at least two sets of advisors; on Banking and the Dash for Gas, both in the latter half of last year.

One thing is for sure, the UK will once again be downgraded by the credit agencies following the absurd budget announced yesterday.
One thing that Osbourne could have and should have done is to announce his intentions to scrap the climate change act. At a stroke the stock market would have soared and investors would feel more confident to invest in Britain. As it stands this act, as I have pointed out many times before, will spell the death knell to our economy over everything else.
Unfortunately all three parties are so bound to the belief that they can control the weather that the likelihood of this happening is, like the weather over the next few day, zero.
Husky hugging Dave, useless Nick and clueless Milliband still believe the mantra. Remember that when your bills increase even more over the next few years and electricity blackouts cripple every single person here. Remember to check out how the renewable sector is performing here:

Not exactly what Keith would like to give the impression it is then.
Reg - I have a very clear idea of fair, a very different one to you. In economics mine is based on what is best for the economy and what will generate the largest tax take for HMRC. Yours in economics is based on petty spitefulness against people who earn a lot of money even if it means they pay less tax as a result of the penal taxation you support. I have history, HMRC statistics, overseas statistics, experience, human behavioral science and common sense to back up my view. You have nothing just your own prejudice.
