What an absolute disaster.
No growth except for more "low carbon" energy which is a contradiction in terms.
Electric cars.
Someone tell George it was the electric car which helped to cause the ruination of Detroit, once the richest city in North America.
Epic fail from the Tories.

didn't see it, just looked in at some and seems totally uninspiring, corporation tax down by 1%, beer down a penny a pint.
i don't see the point of silly little changes.

Didn't hear it all but George did say:
"We're taking a penny off a pint and we're expecting it to be passed onto customers"
So a pint will go down from £3.50 to £3.49? I don't think so!
My local charges and increases in increments of 10p, so nothing will happen there.

Great budget. Debt doubles, carbon price floor kicks in a few weeks from now possibly doubling energy prices and leading to exodus of high energy using companies, absolutely no growth - probably negative when push comes to shove. Government relying on failed green deal in order to boost growth. More red tape., unfair extra taxes on smokers, puerile announcement on beer duty, more QE meaning a further devaluation of the Pound, a British version of Fannie Mae (what can possibly go wrong????)
Did I mention no growth and blackouts?

good news for the serious pub drinker who goes out and has 8 pints every night of the week. instead of it costing he/she £196 it will henceforth be only £.195. 44 a week assuming the publican passes on the cut.

So, Philip, Howard and Alexander don't like the budget....
Must have been a surprisingly good one then. Now I am back in my office I will have to catch up with it this evening. Lots of bulletins in my email to work through and make an informed assessment. I have been holding off my blog update to focus on this and will post tomorrow morning when I have studied the detail.
I wonder how many of those having a go at how MPs behave shout and holler at football matches or in front of the tv when supporting their team. It is exactly the same motivation and I am quite sure you would be doing exactly the same if you were MPs.

I take comfort from the old saying that if you haven't grown up by the time you are 50, you don't have to.

governing the country is a serious business and cannot be compared to watching football, you must be very blinkered if you don't think the rest of the country are totally disgusted at the antics in the commons.
one trillion in debt and all they can do is entertain themselves.

Its tribalism Howard, its why the country is ruined, an entirely new approach is required.
If you go to DDC council meetings its identical but on a smaller scale and nobody watching, pathetic to be honest

I would bet you would behave just the same as the MPs did Howard. The importance and significance of the where and what they were attending adds to the strength of feelings that were being expressed there. It is exactly the same emotions, mentality and motivation as for football crowds. Our MPs are no different ultimately to any of us and it is no good thinking they should be able to sit on their feelings and be all superior to the rest of us. It just is not the case.

Actually Barry, I don't behave like that under any circumstances. Do you? And did you when you were a councillor?
