22:3779735I find it ironic that while David Cameron is lecturing Chinese students about human rights issues, his own students back home are smashing up his HQ on the back of a demonstration prompted by civil rights issues. Chinese TV blanked his student speech -but I bet they showed the rioting in London. It's a sobering thought that if the Chinese students demonstrated, for whatever reason ,they'd probably be machine gunned.
It's a funny old world-but the good old UK,with all it's faults,is probably the safest place to be.

22:4479739Well it would appear I am a minority of one. I hope you all take such a benevolent view when it comes to roits caused by the benefit cuts.
It does not matter a jot how you principled people try to justify yesterdays debaucle. It set a poor example to the masses existing on their benefits, especially from people who should know better. Educated elite ?? I have my doubts.

22:5779740Good God Howard-precisely my thoughts.
Jimmy- not benevolence, just glib acceptance. Was it the Guardian headline yesterday which read..."Just the Beginning..."?

11:3379776It would be interesting to find out how many of the 'students' who caused the damage and broke into Millbank are actually at university?
Its a terrible shame that this mindless minority has caused 'major media mayhem' (five m's) which has besmirched the students cause. Briony,Saskia and their fellow students shouldn't allow themselves to be tarnished by this violence which seemed to be orchestrated by anarchists/activists from outside circles which seems to have clouded the main reason for the march.

12:5579912just been reading that another day of action will be held on the 24th november, sounds rather unwise.
apparently there are many lecturers involved, one actually stated that he supported the break ins, hardly setting an example to his students.
more surprisingly the 56 arrested at the last demonstration were all students, i expected most to be outside infiltrators.
