Walking down Folkestone Road quite often, I see a fair few people spitting.
I've just read this:
"Spitting fines - a London council believes it is the first in the UK to introduce a ban on spitting with on-the-spot fines. Residents in Waltham Forest could be fined £80 if they are caught in the act by a civil enforcement officer.
Daily Mail, Page: 11 Evening Standard, Page: 19"
When our Enforcement Officers start fining for littering and dog-poo, wouldn't it be great if they did this too ?

I agree a disgusting habit, I've seen that so many times, it seems to be on the increase spreading so many germs and diseases. I think there needs to be a national campaign to try to educate the masses.

One of our alkie/druggies, the one on crutches, sits on various steps in Castle Street/Russell Street with a puddle of gob and spittle in front of him.

Roger, it really is time to impose a fine for spitting in the street.
Folkestone Road has the worst offenders in Dover, they don't speak English, but they need to be shown the ways of the Law.
PS.
Today two of them were racing along Folkestone Road pavement on large pedal-bikes, opposite Priory Station, one not even holding the handle-bars. They dodged at full speed between pedestrians, one pushing a pram with child.
This is going far too far, Roger! They need teaching manners!

Keith, stop changing the subject! I'm talking of facts along Folkestone Road, which comes under Roger's administrative ward.

It is disgusting no matter who it is spitting and is far worse than a smoker dropping a cigarette butt, so if the smoker gets fined for that then so should the person who spits.
