Last night my youngest came from his friends house in dour street and noticed 3 youths playing with the supermarket large dustbins.
my boy took no notice of this and continued to walk via side of morrisons, bridge street and over tower hamlets, by the grammar school these 3 hooligans (who wore scarves to cover there faces and hoodies) jumped my boy hitting him in the face causing two big bunps on his head and one on his cheek bone.
luckily for my boy a passing gentleman saw what was happening and shouted and the 3 cowards ran off.
the police did a good job in getting to the scene quickly but the youths had gone
whilst the police nterviewed my son another call came through of an assault outside the ex cherry tree pub(may or may not be connected)
obviously my boy was in shock over the incident,
i hope this post wont get bogged down with stats that say dover is safe
when it affects your own the figures mean nothing.
had the chap not shouted when the 3 youths were punching my boy(totaly unprovoked) i dread to think what the outcome might have been,,
what are your views??????

totally shocked keith, dont expect that sort of random violence on our streets.
i hope that mark recovers from the incident quickly and it does not leave him lacking in confidence when going out.

I know exactly where you are now as a father Keith. Exactly!
I do ponder just what might be done to square this circle, but when a Party favourite, and a doctor no less, thinks nothing of using his public-position to further his own career I am at a loss as to what can be done to the one when nothing is done to the other.
The police here took the situation seriously. [There may be finger prints on the bins that could help.]
First things first though...I hope your son is on the mend. Arnica will help.

I echo Berns sentiments entirely...and as a father who is prone to retribution I would have cruised the streets looking for the barstewards to exact my form of judgement...sorry if that offends but that's how I feel.

I can only echo what has been said previously and hope the police get them before they hurt anybody else.

Sorry to hear about your Son Keith, there is a general thing going on I feel at the moment, these youngsters are rebelious. They seem extra angry and that there have been several incidents in and around the Town. You may recall that I saw 70-80 in that area recently and the Police couldn't find out what they were doing but believe they were up to no good.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Wishing your boy well, and thanks for the heads-up as my boy is spending a lot of time up the Hamlets and walking home late at night. Once again wishing your boy well

Shocked to hear that Keith, glad to see your boy is getting over it. What time of night was it?, after the pubs had chucked out?.

Sorry to hear about your lad - hope he has made a speedy recovery and it doesnt dent his self confidence
I personally do not find Dover to be a bad place and have never felt unsafe walking through the town at any time of the day or night, unlike when I lived in Islington. Having said that I have noticed an increase in the number of groups of teenage boys wandering around town at all hours being loud and overtly aggressive and have also had reports of a couple of groups of boys causing trouble in shops up London Road; I would be surprised if it is not all connected in some way.

Sorry to hear about that awful story Keef. Hope your boy is okay, it will take a little time for him to recover from the shock of it all, coming like it did out of the blue. Its probably more the shock than the bumps. But hopefully all will be okay again soon.
Ross I hope we are not beginning to embrace gang culture here in Dover, what with those teenage groups you mention roaming around, would be a terrible downward path. Lets hope for the best on that front.

That is truly awful Keith; anywhere it would be bad, but in our home Town it's worse.
As you said, good job someone shouted and the toe-rags ran off.
Hope he still enjoy going out.
JHG - you say some young guys are angry, angry at what ? being out of work, not having the brains to thing of something useful to do instead of going out at night and beating people up ? or are they still at school. What do they want to do ?
Peope who find it fun intimidating and beating up others, are of no use to themselves or society in general, something must be done.

How absolutely horrendous. Your poor lad, Keith. Please send our regards and we hope he will be able to recover after such a horrid experience.
Thank goodness for people who are prepared to get involved, like that gentleman. Well done to him.

Shocking to hear about your son, Keith, I hope that he can put the shock of the mindless attack behind him, once the bruises have gone and not let it affect him in the future.
