16:5285655 Whitfield United Reformed Church this afternoon, tucked away from the main road and almost unseen. By all accounts of what I`ve heard said about the weather forecast, it looks like being a white Christmas in some places with the current deposits so iced over it`ll take something to melt it all.

16:5485658I didn't risk it today, actually - I saw a few cars sliding around this morning and thought it wasn't worth the risk all the way to Essex and back, especially Dartford!!

17:0785665Lovely photo Colin.
We haven't had any further snow here Bern but it's still on the ground. If you need weather updates just shout.

17:1285669A little hideaway for you to explore Jeane if you haven`t already done so. Nothing of special interest noted though.

17:2285672I haven't been to Whitfield for a couple of years now Colin and haven't discovered that one. Last time I was there I got a bit lost trying to find Whitfield Parish Church (St Andrews? Sorry not sure what it's called) where Arthur Beresford Pite married, photo attached. I have been there once before but it was the day I ended up rescuing an injured blackbird instead and bringing it on an 80 mile journey home where it recovered and inspired me to write a children's book and the rest is history!

20:5485713Been snowing here in Whitfield for well over an hour now Paul. Everything was already covered, so it`s all covered again. Jeane, lovely picture Church Whitfield, that`s where my second daughter was christened. Still an unspoilt area.

20:5985716I had hoped to go to the shop but it is looking increasingly unlikely. I hear the shopping area has yet to be gritted and that it was like a slide outside our shop.

21:1385720I am suprised you were shocked, I would have said it is about par for the course as the saying goes.

21:1385721 Even with the busy bus stop at Tescos this afternoon, no attempt has been made on the roads or the pavements. Two more buses were behind! The ridiculous thing was that those first two double decker`s were both 87 service, bound for Ramsgate, an hourly service!

21:5585737Personally I think the authorities can't win, as soon as it is cleared it snows again..... I don't think anyone was expecting as much as we have had a second time in a year....
We appear to have had about 2 inches since I got in at 7pm !!!!!
Been nice knowing you :)

22:0185739Agree with you Paul, and I must hasten to add that I`m only stating the position on the roads and pavements regarding no attempt to clear it, and not that they should have been cleared as I haven`t the knowledge of what resources are available, and as already mentioned, in our climate, we can`t invest in heavy machinery which may never be used.

22:0585740I do feel sorry for the workers, they are putting in endless hours in horrible conditions, it is backbreaking work for the ones that are spreading by hand. I would like to thank them for what they are managing to do....

you are a council officer, you are duty bound to say that.
i doubt that if you worked for a private company and snowed in you would hold the same view.

23:0785747I wonder how the financial equation works regarding snow clearing costs versus accident and emergency costs. I would think the A&E side would be higher.

08:0785766As I've put on other threads, it snowed quite hard at Whitfield last night while at a JTB meeting - slow drive home, but got there safely thank goodness.
It stopped shortly afterwards and no more overnight.
