Well done that lady.
The Health Centre car park area should be gritted by the council considering those that have to use it, it would only take five minutes to drive round when Maison Dieu is being gritted.

You can add Stembrook to that, Jan. I watched three people slip over on the ice yesterday afternoon (Well, it's better than day time TV!!

).

disappointing to see that no gritting has been done in pencester gardens, a busy route for people trying to get to the car park and bus stops.

Yes thats exactly how it is Howard. I was out there this morning myself, slipping and sliding all over the place. Ventured with life in hands to Marks and Spenser...some of the pavements are dire, particularly Russell Street carpark which I initially thought was a good idea to take a short cut across. One kindly chap pointed out to me sheet ice on the roadway and advised me not to go a particular way...probably had a bit of sympathy for ancient geezer heading out in bewildered fashion for a few groceries.
Thanks to him..

It did indeed refreeze yesterday. My neighbour's son kindly scraped and gritted my steps at the front, but I still managed to do a few back-flips and a triple-salco and yet counted the steps with my hip going out at about 3pm. The park is virtually ice free, path wise, except for the all important rout from the front gate to the cafe. So close to perfection yet so far away.
The crispy boot-marked snow is the better way on and off pathways for if the ice is not plain to see it is lurking invisible. 'lurking' is what I wrote and is what I meant to write. The full facts I leave to the imagination.

Annoyingly I saw this chap was flitting around but I needed to get back to work so couldn't hang around to try and snap him
Been nice knowing you :)

I tried that one a few weeks ago Paul, little bugger would not keep still.
I got these at work today, a dripping gutter and the end result. never seen a plant in deep freeze before.
grass grows by the inches but dies by the feet.

Super pics Paul and Ian.
My neighbour has been telling me for years that he regularly sees a kingfisher in Bushy Ruff, even down to which branch of which tree it sits on. Inspired by the pic above I had a walk around this morning and saw it sitting on the very branch over the stream that he had told me about. Couldn't get a decent picture though as a couple came through the gate opposite with a scatty dog and it flew off into the gardens next door.
I also saw a rather amazing 3ft tall snowman, or rather part of a snowman, or to be precise private parts of a snowman - I got a pic of that but being a family friendly forum it won't be posted!

More snow tonight, larger flakes and more of 'em. Ho-hum.

Here's a bit of a mystery, anyone got any suggestions as to what caused this mark in the snow? It wasn't there yesterday but had appeared by 8 this morning on the roof of my shed. It's about 18 inches long, the snow that has gone is nowhere to be seen and there's no marks in the snow on the lawn or the other side of the roof to suggest anything bouncing off or landing.
This was taken through an upstairs window.
This was taken from outside to get a different angle, it was only when I downloaded it that I found I'd caught a sparrow flypast!
