A thread that may get some use in the coming days. It is snowing here and lying. Fine particle snow is drifting down upon a carpet of the same stuff about an inch deep.
I blame that Huhne fellow.

are you actually sure it is snow tom?
the reason i ask is that philip tipped us off about global warning flakes a day or two ago.
they look very similar.

B-b-bona f-f-fide. I have pics, but technical issues and the joy of being over 50...I make no promises.

I took these pictures from my doorstep just prior to starting this thread...and it is still snowing, the traffic has died down and the road is now whitening. This is Stoke Newington in north London Penny.

It's snowing here near Dover and the wind is getting up.

I have taken another shot of the second scene above and if the scene is even more picturesque in the morning I'll do another shot and load them then.
We have very little wind at the moment, the white stuff is coming down as lazily as it pleases. Ho-ho-ho

It's beautiful. It can be inconvenient at times but it is a joy. Went out at 7am to make my mark.
Will take a trek out later for a cheeky half.

And we have snow here in Essex this morning. This is our semi-resident robin, Joe, singing for his breakfast.

#12....... sorry can not remember your name
Yes it might look very pretty but it is horrid for quite a few as it makes us housebound. I just hope I can get out on Tuesday for my stint at the shop.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Our cockatiel has never seen snow before and after regarding it with a less than enchanted eye for a good five minutes has now retreated to the far corner of his cage with his back to it. As I am pretty much housebound anyway I can just enjoy the prettiness and thank God I am no longer hacking up and down the A2 to get to work.
To all of you still having to brave it I say: be safe.

Diana, my two cockatiels were awake early as it was so bright from the snow. They have been having a conversation with the robin, 2 doves, 2 blue tits and 3 starlings that have just arrived in the garden (they can hear him from the cosy comfort of their cages) I have put out extra food in the garden - you should hear the noise

Jeane you are so lucky. The only bird I have ever seen here (apart from pigeons and seagulls) is a pied wagtail which visits occasionally. Apart from that - zippo.

Darren, Jan.
I do sympathise with those that are housebound but even that can be quite lovely now and again. Just called my mum and she has a great 'day in' planned. She informs me that my Dad is also going to brave the elements later for a cheeky half.
It's also great for the kids, lots of fun to be had. I can already hear many in the street.
First things first, I'm off to the shops to buy 16 loaves and 10 pints of milk which seems to be the thing to do.
