See #46 Howard.
The extraordinary thing is the pathetic excuse Eddy has come up with:-
"He used a particular word which has got a specific meaning for him in terms of when he was very young at university and where he met his wife."
Mr Eddy explained he met his wife while she was performing in an Agatha Christie play at university, which has since been renamed to 'and then there were none'.
The play he refers to is Ten Little Niggers by Agatha Christie - renamed And Then There Were Non.
The phrase 'nigger in the wood pile' does NOT appear in the play - or indeed the novel.

Without wishing to cause offence to either mountains or molehills, I think that both the 'offences' in the above articles are really making mountains from molehills. It is either politically motivated, as has been noted above, or it is one of these strange circumstances where people become offended on behalf of others. I think that slavery, at least the period under discussion, is now so far in the past that it surely can't be a taboo subject, especially when you look into the identities of some of the famous Britons who made their fortunes from it, still being highly regarded by large numbers of the populace.
My daughter's friend has recently got herself 'in the family way'. (I love that expression), and my daughter and I were discussion termination as an option for her friend. I gave my opinion, to which my daughter commented, 'I'm not against abortion, but I am against it used as a form of contraception.' This had never occurred to me before, must be the sheltered life I've lead, but it puts Cllr. Frost's comments into a more realistic light.

Barrie, all joking apart, ALL of us are likely to have family members or friends who have had to make the difficult decision on termination whether we know it or not. It is and should be a choice not made lightly and I suspect never out of a persons mind for life afterwards. I am only thankful that I have never been asked my opinion on what someone 'should' do.
Notwithstanding, whilst there are certain topics which I would never joke about, and which I have condemned when people have made 'jokes' about in my presence, abortion is not one of them.

Surprising that the assault resulting in a police caution has been kept quiet by DDC when the voters have a right to know what their representatives are doing. I can only think that as the councillor in question is on long term sick leave and not standing again next May it is not worth making a public issue of it.

There is no 'sick leave' for councillors.
If you fail to attend any meetings for six months, you will automatically cease to be a councillor unless the council approved your reason for absence before the end of the six month period.
In this particular case were he not to turn up at the end of the six months he would cease to be a councillor but, since it is beyond the 'cut off date' to call an election, the ward would just end up being represented by two councillors until the May elections.

Something from years ago in the case of Cllr Walker the programme
love thy neighbour at the time wasn't considered racist but all the actors in recent years said they would not have taken part in the programme today as many parts are racist.
With regard to M Eddy its no surprize hes jumped to the aid of his labour friend
or independent Cllr Frost attacking Cllr eddy, that is nothing new between these two,
it is strange that whoever reported Cllr Walker waited for the selection, but that's local labour for you today.
maybe it will all come out in the wash lol
