Seafront Groynes to be replaced.

  Vic was expressing concerns earlier both on this thread here and on the Sea News page about the dangers of kids climbing the rocks. Last night while browsing back through some of the pictures I saw this one.. I didn't notice it earlier.
  

  

  
  

  

  
  The second picture above is a crop of the top one and as you can see the kids were already climbing the Rocks even though said rocks were cordoned off. I was up there and I didn't notice them. So it looks like some of Vics concerns are coming to fruition right there. The picture is from a week or so ago. But as I said I never noticed it previously. But there we are....kids will be kids.

  Very good photos yes it had to happen but we are going to see a lot more of that yet and we could see broken legs etc lets hope not but the young ones have no fear of things.
  They will be jumping off into the sea head first .The DHB will need to have life guards along there in the summer weeks just think what will happen when the tide is in.

  Kids will climb on them Vic as they would on any beach in the Country, I imagine that when the job is finished they will not be high enough to cause any real injury? Let them play I say.

  We wait and see getting on any rocks when wet and green is a no.no. but lets wait and see.
  But if to low in the water they will not do the job they are putting them there for.
  But why should anyone take notice of me it was only part of my working life doing that kind of job,

  If I was still a kid I'd be all over those rocks every weekend... I remember clambering over the stacks of concrete blocks that used to be at the old Channel Tunnel site (now Samphire Hoe) in the 80's. Stupid, but when you're a kid you just have to do it.

  This guy was giving me the evil eye while I was photographing from my Crows Nest!
  He kept leaving his perch then returning, then doing an agitated dance in between times.
  I don't know what was afoot so I don't.
  Bit of a grainy picture..snatched at it. Those wildlife photographers on the other threads wont be worried...lol!

  Volvos like the one in the photo was the kind I was welding up in Germany and the welding had to be all coded but I loved that job.

  Yes there have been plenty of devotees at times Howard. Some of it has of course been fascinating stuff.
  
  To add to the mix here are a few further oddball pictures...
  

  

  They struck a rich vein of something above there...the sea ran red. I wonder what it was?? We have had the sea turning brown as you would expect, but a different colour emerged this time...red.
  Almost reminds a chap of one of them infamous political speeches doesn't it... aaaarrrrgh!! Don't mention Politics

  This is an oddball for sure. A sort of wide angle pic but at long range. It shows some of the night time floodlights helping those doing the work see whats what. Pictures from the past week.

  Here's another one of the Volvo for you Vic. In the thick of the latest action..ferrying the heavy rocks from one part of the site to the other..ferrying them across to the other diggers (pictured below in the second pic) who are shaping the groynes

  Was at Folkestone last week, they have similar groynes but longer and higher, there were children and some adults on them, nobody seemed even slightly concerned, what is it with the psyche of Dover that makes it a issue here?

  Not so when we was young we got up to the same kind of things but I have no wish to see any end up with b/arms or legs lets hope I am wrong about it.
