When I moved here from Ilford over 12 years ago Remembrance Sunday had taken a back seat due to a changing population. Thought I would Google my old local paper to see what was planned for Sunday and this was on the front page, a very pleasant surprise.

Big Thank you to the people of Dovet who came to Rememberance service this morning, was wonderful, moving event and so pleasing to see so many youngsters, some for their first time. Well done to everyone who contributed to make iit such a special event on such a special day

Certainly seemed more people than in previous years, the centenary of the great war and the ceramic poppy display at the Tower of London must have had an effect.

Others have mentioned the silence was well before 11.00.
I have also read there was a political speech rather than a prayer after the early silence if so surely this was the wrong time and place.
The Cenotaph service on the BBC was as moving as ever.

Many hundreds for the Deal service at the Deal (Victoria) War Memorial Hospital. Always encouraging to see the scouts, guides,Cubs, brownies, ATC, Army cadets, laying wreaths & taking part along side service organisations in the March past & Salute that followed.
