Unbelievable!! Todays parade at the war memorial.Lots of people, many elderly, and quite a chilly day so many needed to use the loo.None were open either at the Bowling green or at Stenbrook. What a total shambles and an embarresment.Hope those in charge of the toilets feel proud of themselves.

For whatever reason, those in charge knew that this important event was coming so there is no excuse.

Too much chain and not enough flush?

As usual Town Council get blame for loo's, they are not in charge of the loo's. Town Council pay for loo's in certain shops to let the public use, and I'm sure if the veterans needed the loo, they could have used the one in Town Council, as the office was open for the service.

Yes, I was staggered to find the loos closed. Unfortunately, the alternative, the DTC's own, were in limited use (the gents certainly, I didn't venture into the ladies!) due to being redecorated.
Vic may be right but surely we have a "low" risk at the moment.
Come on DDC, WHY?

I think you will find that they put events at a higher risk at all times,i could be wrong over it ..

All very well that the town council offices were open if the loo was needed but many people just didnt know. There was a lot of visitors from out of town who saw signs for public toilets and followed them.Alot of people that cannot walk very far. What can it have been like for them.A friend of mine was involved in the parade,he heard what people were saying and they were not very happy. He had to escort an elderly gent over to the pub as he needed the loo.If they were shut as a security risk then what about all the shops, they were still open. What really was the point of keeping them all shut, its ridiculous.

I am only saying it might be,But I was not told that but They do look at all the risk and act on what they think is best.I was one who went round there as well.

Yes i understand what you,re saying Vic,but if its purely for security purposes then why just the toilets?Stenbrook wasnt even open last sunday as i went to use them after going into town so i feel there maybe other reasons?

So are they normally closed on Sundays then? If so then a special case could have been made to open them given the number of voters that would have needed to use them.

In the War on Terror no chances can be taken. I have no doubt that closure was on the advice of MI5 but you do have to wonder how uncommitted to a cause a 'terrorist' would have to be if the closure of public loos put him/her off carrying out the intended action!
