Oh well another suggestion kicked into touch without it being given a chance. Defeatist or what? You might as well demolish the rest of Dover town centre and turn into a lorry park.

at the moment everyone wants to see the place go upmarket judging by comments made here on various threads.
boot fairs and the present market do not fit in with what the majority want.

I agree Howard.
Barry, please email me with what is wrong in my posting as you don't wish to post it on here.
I was very restrained on my posting and I'm sure you know that.
The market was originally to have between 30 and 40 stalls; when Cameron took it over he made a complete balls of it and when he left the Chamber, no one there was really interested or knew what to do.
I have spoken to one of your fellow board-members (email me if you don't know who it is) about a new market manager with some good ideas about how it can become what it should have become 16/18 months or more ago.
I have spoken to the Channel Chamber about it (not recently admittedly) but they would like figures on potential income and would be happy to take it over if Dover District Council care to go down that route and/or Dover Chamber of Commerce can't be bothered to run it properly.
It could be a good earner and a great benefit to everyone involved - the Town as a whole, the established businesses here, the stall holders, the Council, the Chamber of Commerce and of course Dover residents and visitors.
There is so much to gain and so much to lose - it's your (the Chamber's) choice Barry.

ROGER;
Obviously over the past year or so you have seen yourself sacked from twochamber of commerce bodies, obviously the forum does not have the reasons
nor probably should it, but within these threads you did go public to say you had taken one of the chambers to industrial tribe for unfair dismissal?
there was no update on this, so we have to presume the ch amber won the day
so your latest postings does tend to look as though even though the chamber won the day that you want to still gon down the road of digging at them.
The chamber is one of many bodies that can help to revive, but is not the only body.

still baffled
we have a number of threads by roger (rightly or wrongly)on the chamber and maybe the chamber needs to defend its position, as roger paints a very bad picture of his experiences whilst with them.

Keith please put away your wooden spoon. There's really no need to rake over the coals for the pleasure of a few onlookers.

At the moment we have a one sided view that the chamber isn't up to much
peter, i have no idea if this is correct or not.
But it's only right that whatever Dover's problems, it's far wider than just the 2 chambers being mentioned, and im sure barryw as one of the chairs could easily enlighten us of the chambers good work.

Keith - no one was the winner in my relationship with the Chamber, but Dover was the loser.
I am not talking sour grapes over anything, just what could happen if taken on board.
You don't need to know what happened, nor does anyone else.

ROGER;
You have no matter the subject raised the issue of how ineffctive the chamber is.
You also put on this forum last november i believe that you were taking the chamber to industrial tribe, so it was hardly a private matter.
I don't know a great deal about the chamber or the work they do in general,

Keith please wake up and smell the coffee. These disagreements invariably end in a settlement with a confidentiality agreement. No amount of digging will reveal the details which are properly confidential to the two parties. So please move on, you are once again looking like Waldorf or Statler.

PETER;
Been down this road many times over the years peter i smell more than coffee
and whilst sometimes a settlement between the two parties can be found
other times they dont reach agreement thus one party loses
this looks to be the case in rogers case
i only raised it because as i said earlier it has been on these threads so many times
at every opportunity and its only right the balance by the chamber should be put and hopefully they will.

There is no need to at all Keith. The matter is closed full stop.
Roger is also a friend with who I am on excellent terms and always have been.
There is no need at all for you to try to create ill-will where non-exists. Sometime as Peter said you just have to put that wooden spoon away.
