"The funding used to deliver this scheme had been allocated to congestion reduction including modal shift (encouraging use of active/sustainable travel methods). Through parklet provision, our intention is to improve the experience of walking and cycling in Dover; improvements in walking and cycling infrastructure have been demonstrated to reduce the number of short duration car journeys."
I love this bit and I agree because it drives more people out of town to the shops etc that provide free parking and much needed toilets.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Its become fashionable to use such phrases as "sustainably sourced"and "active travel methods"etc etc,blah blah blah,doubt that hardly anyone could really care less how enviromently friendly these seats are,it really just comes down to one thing,they look s**t and nobody wants them.Maybe just unbolt the lot and put them in Pencester gardens for the p**s heads to lounge on.

Had my reply today from KCC re: parklets;
"Thank you for your comments regarding the parklet scheme in Dover, Kent.
KCC were the lead agency in this project but engaged with local stakeholders including Dover District Council regarding the site locations. Following public feedback, the decision has been made to no longer proceed with the installation of the 5th parklet (proposed for Cherry Tree Avenue); we are currently reviewing the locations for both the 5th parklet and the Castle Street site.
We value your feedback and will bear this in mind when planning future projects.
Yours Sincerely,
KCC Transport Innovations Team"
I guess they didn't send the drivel about schools, community, art work... as I pointed out that this would have already been done as part of the planning and suggested they were talking b@!!@x.
