I’m hoping that they are ALL going to be removed. The best thing for them is to offer them to the local primary schools for using in their playgrounds. That’s the most appropriate place for them.

I can't wait to see the one appear in Cherry Tree Avenue, no one is going to sit and enjoy chatting / relaxing with constant queues of traffic!
Like Arthur, give them to a school to put in their playground, somewhere to sit and grow plants, would be great for the children.

Quote from Cllr Nigel Collar
Nigel Collar, yesterday
Following a meeting this afternoon in which Pauline Beresford and I dug out heels in and KCC officers have agreed to remove the diabolical Parklet in Castle Street as soon as is practical.
This follows on from us listening to the majority of our community.
The majority of the Aycliffe Community would like extra parking at provided at Aycliffe as agreed.... do you ever listen to us at Aycliffe.. Nope you just ignore after three years...

What I find amazing is that our elected councillors had no idea of what the unelected officers are introducing .
That says to me it's not the councillors running the council , but the unelected officers .
That then tells me there's no point voting in May
All we are getting is unelected officers introducing projects which it appears , the elected councillors are unaware of so might as well not have elections
The cost of putting them in
And now , taking them away all comes down to us , the tax payers .

They are not that bad if painted green they would look better, and I think if they done that they should stay plants if left to grow would look OK .When the sea front was first done ,a lot of the public dislike that but after the the lawns turned green and the plants came to life it all looked

OK ,

I’m afraid I think they look cheap and tacky and do nothing to enhance the town. It won’t take long before they are covered in graffiti and used for rubbish.

Cllr Lymer contacted KCC regarding removal of the parklets yesterday morning and received a response from KCC saying that cabinet member Michael Payne is preparing an official statement regarding his request for their immediate removal.

If they are looked after ,that is what I said they should stay .As for the councillors they will say anything right now just to get votes.

Mr Lymer is the right man in the right job that is why I voted for him some years go against my own party ,and that cost me my job as chairman but I DID not care then or now Mr Lymer is the right man and would make a very good MP for the blues and get rid of the one we got now, will that happen?
