 - I thought that was it, it'll get wet when it rains, we could sell it on to the Turner Gallery

 - gut wrenching moment earlier in market square when this young girl expressed disappointment at there being no water here. -
i explained that it was the work of the evil town council that are unaccountable, she replied "yes i heard that didn't like children enjoying themselves".

 - cannot blame the town council for this, the one in folkestone is defunct. probably another unaccountable secret society involved.

 - not forgetting our one barry, i thought things had got too much for the little girl but happily turned out that she was just getting down. -
not that the town council would have cared.

 - #7 Would it not be a Health and Safety issue to have it turned off in case any of the puddles froze over. - -----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

 - possibly but it was half term the sun was out and throngs of people were around, i am sure that it would have been a simple thing for someone to turn it on again .

 - I'd still like to think that the old fountain can be brought back to life. It was very highly thought of by visitors, residents and businesses. The structure was attractive with lots of people having their photo taken there.

 Long live the fountain !

 - the fountain's fate has been sealed roger, just a matter of having something to replace it which doesn't look like happening.

 - how about a statue of cameron and osbourne with water pouring out of there mouths,at least it would be in keeping with the local riff raff.

 - The existing fountain will be up & running for the new season [dates to be defined later].

The proposals to replace the existing fountain have been shelved for the moment.

you did say before that when the fountain next broke down it would not be repaired, does this still apply?

 - It didn't break down though did it Howard ?

Perhaps the new water-features looked at, were just too expensive to justify the money.

 - agree it lasted out the summer surprisingly well roger but the odds are always on a few breakdowns each summer, so i would like to know the forward plan as there is not much money in the kitty for such things.
