I can't find the original thread, but it was brought up on here about the old (proposed) one-way system for the Clarendons and I think it was Ken who asked about the double yellow-lines outside the Boars Head in Eaton Road.
I have a reply from Kent Highways, here it is:
"Dear Cllr Walkden,
Thank you for your enquiries regarding a one-way system in Clarendon Road, and yellow lines in Eaton Road, that were passed to KCC.
The one-way system in Clarendon Road/Clarendon Street/Clarendon Place was investigated a little while ago, but due to funding constraints, was not progressed.
Funding for traffic schemes is now being targeted to those areas with safety issues, so unless a scheme looks likely to tackle a problem where there have been recent personal injury crashes, it is unlikely that it would be funded.
The yellow lines outside the Boars Head pub were only installed in the last year or so, following concerns raised about parked cars obscuring the sight lines for those pulling out from the unmade part of Kitchener Road. Notices were placed on site advising of the proposal, and the proposal was approved by the Dover Joint Transportation Board on 22 September last year, with the the lines installed shortly afterwards. I am afraid we will not be considering the removal of these yellow lines at the current time.
Regards,

thanks for that piece of information roger, this would have been known to our county councillors but they have failed to tell us.

How much does it cost to make a road one way ? Will a few road signs not do the job ?

i seem to remember a figure of 20 grand bandied about andy, mostly on admin.
residents have to be told it will happen then given a date that the job will be done so that cars are removed.

It's also the philosophy that has changed, due to financial constraints. There are many things that the money would be spent on, not just admin.

Roger I don't know how mant times I have to say this, but one of our county councillors offered to put some money up to get this done, the cost was £18,000, and I beleive there is still an offer on the table, but as stated previously another consultation with residents would have to be done

I heard you before Sheila, but thank you for letting everyone know again.
When you say the offer is still on the table, has Gordon still got enough money left of his allowance ? and if it is on the table, are Kent Highways aware of it ? It doesn't sound like they are, at least not to me.
I'll confirm this ith Kent Highways.

well to show my postings remain in an unbiased fashion i need to review/disagree/debate the above article.
When the one way in clarendon was proposed some time ago at a public meeting
those opposing the scheme rejected it and the message to the council was it wasnt required.
it appeared at that time residenbts in clarendon street opposed the plans- asa they turned up to reject the proposals whilst those in clarendon place/road in favour but stayed away.
I have stated on this forum before that it is unclear if residents support/object to the proposals, and the area is one that has a big turnover of people who live there.
further to this, kcc/ddc/police/other agencies wouldnt support a scheme because of local residents divisions.
of course the plan at the time had planters in the road etc and wasnt a good plan
but firstly what does(in my opinion)have to be done is to get local residents support, as im not convinced it is there even today.
All the emergency services were happy with present set up.
Before spending any dosh of our money we need to make sure its what people want, or we could find we waste a lot of dosh

i rather like the idea of planters keith, anyway no point in asking the residents as too many are short term and would never give out their name anyway.
