21:2985980I've been in the Dover sorting office this evening. There's not an awful amount there to be delivered and they will do their best to deliver it before Christmas.
The problem with some post may not be Dover's fault, if the deliveries don't get here they can't be made.
I was told there was a revolt from the postmen today, the management suspended deliveries from being made and the workers were up in arms so that's why deliveries were made. Yes, of course it was a H&S issue again.
DHL, TNT, UK Mail etc who have been allowed to siphon this business away do, in fact, use Royal Mail for their deliveries. Once Royal Mail are allowed to compete things will change.

22:1485990interesting stuff tony, sounds like the jobsworths were lording it over the front line posties.
at the end of the day we rely on our neighbourhood postperson to deliver the goods(usually in envelope form), why people want to privatise the service is beyond me.
