There is a large planter over the road from us. If it were planted up I would be very happy to toddle across the road with watering cans when necessary. The ban is not on using mains water on gardens, it is on using hosepipes (or plumbed systems) to transport it from mains to flower beds.

...There'll be Olympic Logos
and litter along the shore,
bunting and dayglo PCSOs
who could ask for more?
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.
I have a blue badge and I am exempt from the hosepipe ban. Should I offer my own services?!
Really, though, even if it is a potentially trivial issue, it is a good example of the lack of thought, drive and guts in local politics. There are some outstanding people in there somewhere, but battling against the odds. Let's have a bit of thinking around corners, chaps!
Just a further thought - I am looking out of my window at pouring rain....................................

If DTC hurry up down to Pound****s in Pencester and buy up their stock of buckets and bowls they should have enough rainwater to see them through the summer by catching the next lot that's coming in -

Sue, as you will know, local authorities are not allowed to water plants unless they have access to a source of grey water. DDC, who do have such a source, were consulted but the excessive charge they wished to make far outweighed the benefits.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

Interesting Chris..are we experiencing a them and us situation similar to the toilets episode...looks like DTC are blaming DDC for the non appearance of plants or am I jumping the gun?

OMG! Is it the 1st of April? Am I having a bad dream? Whats this I hear, there are to be no plants/flowers for Dover this Spring/Summer!!
There are so many alternative options on this thread. We could even opt for some artificial ones, there are some very good ones these days. They can even look like the real thing, at least we would have some colour splashed round and about the town and especially this year with the Olympic Torch right on our doorstep.
Come on lets step up and get some of the many options discussed on here on the table
If Folkestone can do it then why can't we

Other options are being looked into (including artificial) so do not give up hope.

Can I give up on the local reps (present company excepted!) instead then? My hope might come creeping back home if I did.
Artificial flowers are pants compaired to the real thing

Well the way I see it is, artificial is better than nothing, not ideal by any means but..............
Colour!!! We need colour in the town, especially in the Spring and Summer.

But the thought of artificial is dreadful, what state will they be in after another week like we having now with wind and heavy rain?? and god forbid someone could get injured by the plastic on them
