I don't know how you can say the port is closed. I've just been on the port of Dover website and there's nothing about it there. I'm off for a trip to the seafront in my tee shirt and cut down jeans to see what the fuss is all about.

What a contrast to yesterday, we took our dog Fifi down to the seafront and we all had a lovely couple of hours in the sunshine. Sue's seafood cafe was open so we had some of her delicious fare with tea. We were blessed with the weather yesterday, so glad we made the most of it, certainly blowing a storm out there today

Here in Dover sea conditions in the Channel are very rough, with a West-Sou-Westerly wind force 11 and the visibility is poor.
The Port of Dover is currently closed due to strong winds in the channel. Passengers are advised to contact their operator before setting out for the Port.
All departures with SeaFrance to Calais have been suspended until further notice. Passengers wishing to make enquiries should call SeaFrance reservations department on 0871 2220711.

I was, as I will endlessly bore you with, trapped on the roundabout at Dartford when they closed the bridge going the other way. A terrible service that to add insult to injury we have to pay for. I also have to get back this evening via the Dartford Crossing and op stack if it is on. hey ho.

sue, clearing away damged trees is a health and safty matter nothing to do with budgets stretched or not.in fact its cheaper to clear away than paying out a copensation and court pay out.
