19:5778492I heard today they could be there in about 5 weeks. This means there will be Morrisons, Farmfoods, Netto, Iceland and Sainsbury all in a very small area, seems a lot surely one of them will loose out in the end.

asda are extending the present netto's to out farmfoods, jolly's and poundland.
i would think that iceland would be the worst hit by the new sainsbury's.

20:1478500Are you sure about that, Howard. I was told that if the Monopolies Commission accepted Asda taking over Netto it was to be a Tesco Express type of store. I know DDC were fed up with Asda messing them about with the old plans they had.
Asda will have to wait for the Jolleys and Poundstretcher leases to run out anyway so it will be a while before anything happens even if they do get the go-a-head.

20:4278510Howard I understood that all ASDA planned to do with the Netto stores it bought was to strip them put in their normal type fixtures and fittings and turn them into medium sized stores (i.e. not changing the size of the current stores).
Given that the Co-Op could not make a go of a store that covered the whole of that unit I doubt ASDA would commit to that with Morrison's across the car park.

that was my original understanding, it seems illogical for asda to put a superstore there if they turned down the dtiz site.
as brian says our member humphy may shed some light on the matter as her job would be affected.
just to note, nettos(or soon to be asda) have the bulk of the parking spaces on the site.

08:2978742Yes, it's a shame that Smart Stationery is closing; not enough trade obviously.
It's not a catch-phrase, but "use it or lose it".
If the majority of people/businesses have no need for their products, they'll have to close and this is what has happened - sad.

17:0178785The person who owns Smart Stationery is a Freight Forwarder Howard.
I'm not sure when it's actually closing down.
