Three Forum meetings have been set up to to discuss "Public Services in the Dover District". Everyone is under pressure to deliver their services with fewer resources and representatives from partner organisations will be available to let you know what is happening with your public services and answer your questions.
Representatives include Kent County Council, Dover District Council, Kent Police and the Community Safety Partnership, Eastern & Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust, Kent Highway Services and Kent Fire and Rescue.

They are using the bigger venue now in central Dover so more room for all.

Whether it's apathy or that the soaps are more important, I don't know, but the message needs to get across to the public a lot more that it does now.
I have a newsletter to post on here that gives information too and have sent it out to hundreds of people.

In reply to your comments i think the real reason people are reluctant to attend is the lack of action or teeth from this body.
KCC have as good as said this body is purely a cosmetic exercise, giving the body few powers, and little dosh to be effective.
the subjects are ok, but its the outcomes that are required that you dont ever get feedback on(usually because there hasnt been any)
nobody wants to go to a talking shop.

28 May 2011 14:18107988Roger, the public have to know that there is a forum and it's purpose in their neighbourhood before they can even think whether they are interested, they then have to know where and when they meet.
Before I joined this wonderful informative site last year I did not know such events even existed.-----------------------------------------------------------------------

there were no signs to say what was going on.
i wandered in and took a couple of shots, didn't see to much going on.

FUNDING FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Community groups looking for help with projects that can show benefit to the local community are invited to apply for capital grants of up to £2,500 from the Dover District Neighbourhood Forums.
Dover District Council and Kent County Council have again allocated funding to the Dover District Neighbourhood Forums to award grants to local projects. Successful projects last year included upgrading community facilities, replacing fencing, providing a tennis ball machine, a pony see-saw, security lighting and new public seating.
Kent County Council is administering this Small Community Capital Projects grant fund and application packs are available from KCC Community Engagement Managers Emma Carey or Anne Charman (Sandwich Area only), or can be downloaded from DDC's website at www.dover.gov.uk/neighbourhoodforums
Councils are keen to encourage applications from local voluntary and community groups that have not applied to the Neighbourhood Forums before. The application process is straightforward and advice and assistance is available from Kent County Council.
