I would say the majority do scoop otherwise the pavements and gutters would be covered just like they used to be years ago. I know the dog owning customers at the shop are as angry as we are.

no argument that the vast majority of dog owners are responsible, the problem is that the actions of the bad ones reflect on them.
i was once accused of leaving mess behind, it would have taken my lhasa apso a week without going to leave a result that size.
I was also a responsible dog owner and always, without fail, "scooped" - but I recall once when walking our old greyhound by the seafront - on his lead - that I stopped to talk to someone and he did the business while I was looking the other way. Had I been given the 30 seconds it would have taken me to turn around and notice and then scoop I would have done so, but instead a group of middle aged respectable looking people instantly unleashed a barrage of anti-dog abuse at me for failing to pick up. Nasty and unnecessary. So yes, please do not assume or lump us all together with the irresponsible ones.

The Prince of Wales Pier is often littered with dog mess, as it was yesterday, the owners should be ashamed!

I may have missed it somewhere in the many postings on this thread, but has this regular occurence actually been reported to the dog warden or district council? I keep seeing comments that the dog warden is nowhere to be seen when it is happening, but has the information been passed on to him or her?

I have not reported it to be honest I never even thought of that

, I do not know if any other shop keeper in the area has done so. Maybe one of the councillors who read the forum could do so they have more influence than the public.

what can you report jan?
unless you see the owner walk off and get a photo of them there is no point.
if you catch them at it they are unlikely to give you their name and address, however as it seems to be at the same time and place every day then it is worth giving the dog warden a ring, he will be pleased to lie in wait.
ive been there and reported up where i live to be told nowt can do , also shame that people must see this happening yet walk on past without saying a word . different if they walked it through their homes tho im guessing .

Melissa you said DOG OWNERS, not some dog owners are lazy so it seems yet don't have the brain cells to realise it carries all sorts of yukkies, so as a dog owner I take it to be aimed at me????????? End of.

Sorry to state the obvious, but how do you expect something to be done unless you report it to the right officials in the first place? Putting it on the Forum - informative though it might be - is not a substitute for making an official report or complaint. If nothing is done, then you might have a right to moan. If councillors or council officials had to follow up every little thing that appears on the forum - some of which, I have to say, don't appear to bear a very close resemblance to the truth - they wouldn't have time for anything else. Why not talk to people in the area, see if you can narrow down the day and time that it's happening, and give the dog warden all the information you can. At least then he'll have a fighting chance of finding the culprit.

Jim, I have talked to people but this is an area of shops without flats overhead, nobody has seen anything, or choose not to, we just find the deposits when we arrive at 9.00 in the morning.
Read Howard's post #51, plus DDC and police representatives read the forum so they know there is a problem all over the town but choose to do nothing. This subject has been mentioned enough in the past.
