Have not seen the following advertised on the Forum.
DTC in conjunction with Dover Community Radio and LA Music Club present at the Bandstand in Pencester gardens free live music between 2pm and 4pm on the following Sundays (Programs subject to change)
Sunday 14th August Zen Bicycle Band
Sunday 21st August Deepwater Horizon /Tracey Thomas
Sunday 28th August Musicians and performers from LA Music Club
Sunday 4th September Jake Clapson
I do not have details of the various performers and if anyone has the info they can perhaps post details.
Have put this on the Forum as some forumites mentioned not aware of events.
The DTC site has a whats on sections as does the DDC Website.

Gosh! that was a well kept secret Pat.

Good to see them making some use of the thing. Hopefully we might be blessed with a bit of good weather.

Zen Bicycle Band are a jazzy improvisational trio, three excellent professional musicians playing flute, double bass and electronic marimba -

LA Music Club are local young musicians who entertained at The Fox on the weekend of the Royal Wedding. One young lad of about 10 is just unbelievable, and I think Jake Clapson is one of their number (or was and he has progressed).
Hope the weather is better for all of them than today, here comes the plug - The Mighty Cowpats are playing in Hythe High St from 11 today to kick start the Venetian Fete week.
Yes Paul
I think all organised at very short notice...I only found out when leaflet was in DTC office yesterday.
No doubt DCR will be promoting on air but was surprised they had not put a post on the forum.
However on a positive it is good that the bandstand is being used for the community.

Well done for the infomation, more people seem to look in on this website rather than DTC or DDC, but looking at the weather today who would think its August

I Do recall a posting that the bandstand was to be used for the following sundays without further details
the town council should advertise events as widely as possible(including the forum)
but at least an effort is being made

The trouble is that if nobody knows about it in advance, people can not attend, then the council will say it was not popular and stop doing it.
As Keith says these kind of events must be publicised as widely as possible.

Howard, maybe nobody told them about it.

This really just flags up how useless the local reps are at making anything like a professional job of promoting and developing local things. Great that some stuff is put on the DDC etc websites, but what else is done? A few posters and a slot on a website doesn't cut it and is really not acceptable. What are you going to do about it, councillors?
Howard/Keith
I posted it early on Saturday having only heard late the previous evening..as away from Dover not able to post as do not have such things as Blackberries.
As a DTC Councillor I had heard nothing on our "weekly notices" and was quite surprised at the short notice. However I have made the attempt for people to know of the event by posting on this forum as soon as I knew. There is a saying "better late than never" and indeed some forumites have asked for any info to be posted.
As per my original I am surprised DCR had not posted earlier as they have been very pro-active with activities they have been involved with.
Not sure what Roger is saying re #9
Will raise with our Town Clerk.

thanks pat, i have not seen any posters around town, just checked our community association notice board nothing there either.
all town council events are posted there normally, well in advance too.
Howard
The details have, I suspect, been finalised at short notice.
Sheila Amos is excellent in ensuring any DTC leaflets etc are normally with you at the Clarendon and Westbury Hall.
