Democracy should give the man paying the subs a say,
And automatic enrolment to a party should stop, this should be voluntary
I think unions can be beneficial to members, if you're a member of the C B I , or the
Law society, you will probably do ok.

a small part of keith's link.
The Conservative Planning Forum raises around £150,000 a year for the Tory party and charges members £2,500 to meet senior MPs to discuss policy and planning issues.

# 66........Hot air....
The mess with Labour and the unions makes this the perfect time to let the state fund political parties
It's easy to state the case against state funding. But if the lack of respect for MPs is what prevents
taxpayers stumping up, this lack owes a lot to the present system
Not for the first time, a still, small voice of sanity from John Prescott. Scarcely noticed amid the
echoing roars of recrimination during the weekend, over Ed Miliband's collision with Unite's
leader Len McCluskey, the Labour peer renewed his call for state funding of political parties
on the grounds that "whether it is a rich union or a rich businessman, in parties they should not
be dictating what they think is the position".
Prescott understands better than most one of the paradoxes of the years he lived through as
Deputy Prime Minister. No Labour leader before or since took less account of the view of union
leaders than Tony Blair - probably rather less than Prescott himself would have liked.
But at the same time, remarkably little was done during the Blair years to reform the unions'
institutional leverage in the party.
It's hardly Blair's doing that Ed Miliband didn't see earlier that exactly because of the role played
by the unions in his own election as leader, he would be under mounting pressure to put in train
some of the reforms he is expected to foreshadow in his big speech today. Or that Labour has not
found the additional funding - including from business - that it was so adept at attracting
during the Blair years.

Public funding of politics would be a disaster

Most union members are to day coming from the public sectors
The publics sectors did ok under Blair And brown
It was the genuine poor working class that got shafted by new labour,
At the same time tony the wet Tory, tried to pleas his other backers
Big business, with cheap open door EU workers .

No idea Keith as I have never had a job that required or suggested the need to join a union.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

State funding would not be right I agree with David!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and don't agree with reg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course we see links to how the tories are being financed by business, so realy this can of worms isn't realy a good one for the tories to open up.
But let me return to reply to the original poster;
I have read all the articles and still there is no mention of a rule that say YOU HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF A UNION TO BE A CLLR it just couldn't happen even if the labour party wanted it to.
The question of influence by unions in the labour party
and a non existent rule are quite different.

I wonder haw new labour will get there money now??
Maybe Blair and Mandy will stick there hands in there pockets ???
Maybe the unions will start another political party ?
They may even call it old labour,
Theirs an abundance of old labour members that left the party .
Maybe Keith s will start, an old labour revolution in Dover.

I sent a letter to Dover Mercury and they published it today but left out the ****middle***** ...I wonder why ?
``Dear Editor,
Keith Sansum`s letter 4th July 2013 edition.``All Women list not democratic``.
The National Labour Party introduced this policy years ago for the KCC elections.
******The Regional Party chose a ward of two representatives in Deal represented by
Messrs Eddy and Birket who were at that time County Labour Leader and Chief Whip
and were in favour of the policy.......but not for them ??
They then tried to change the All Women only list to Messrs Newman and Sansum ward
which was `finally`rebuffed.
To save their own political skins they then decided to ``sacrifice``a ward with only one KCC member
Dover Rural ward.........mine.........
Due to Messrs Eddy and Birket`s powerful positions in the Local Labour Party it was `pushed`
through and allowed to proceed.
With a women now representing Labour in the next General Election for Dover because Male candidates
were `not` allowed to stand for selection Mr Eddy`s past actions with the `knife`has come full circle
and ended up in his own back*******.
The National Labour Party is now in complete contradiction on their selection process.
Deputy Leader of the Labour Party Harriet Harman on Andrew Marrs programme stated
that due to the Falkirk Fiasco the Party wanted to ``open up``the process of `Selection``
of candidates so that `ordinary people`could stand for ``Selection``and that future reform
in the Party`s selection process is required........about time.......
This now contradicts their ``Women only candidate policy``.....total hypocrisy.
Labour`s Women only list is not Democratic and for their credibility must be removed,
Reg Hansell former Member for Dover Rural.

Not just Labour that has problems according to Claire herself
shes quoted as saying Charlie elphick is sponsored to the tune of £58,855 including £3,000 from the so called
SECRET UNITED AND CECIL CLUB(Wonder what they do??)
so both realy don't have much to shout about
Charlie trying to justify his windfall by saying his extra dosh only goes on leaflets is in itself a good laugh

i saw that about charlie being sponsored some time ago, the whole scenario supports my wish for political funding from the taxpayer and no more donations allowed.
clair was on the unite facebook site but suddenly no more.
