decided to pop down to townwall street earlier to see what the fuss was all about, very gloomy but the photos still give some idea of the work done.

In fairness Howard that is nothing to do with the Town Team, I'm not sure who commissions or is responsible for that "street art". The students of KCollege have been busy working away at the other side of the subway. Its not finished but already a big improvement.

I do not like that first picture it looks like it was been done by a bunch of amateur daubers.
David are KCollege students going to do some good street art on there or is it staying plain, whichever it will look better than the other lot.

As I have been saying the last two years,Dover is looking more like a wild west fort than a town.By the way the six years is up this year when I told you all that Burlington house will still be with us for the next six years ,and it is,here it is again Burlinghouse will still be standing in the year 2016 or passed it.Place your bets now

please.

jan, the top photo was taken in the turning mill road/lane so won't be seen by drivers heading towards the docks, the bottom 2 are in townwall street.

The paintings are rubbish and should be painted over there is no meaning behind them ,who ever said they should be done like that should be the person to paint them out,if they are to be painted then lets see painting about the history of the town and Dover in the war days etc again they are rubbish lets hope they are painted out soon.Better still lets see soming done with the sites like new buildings etc but we all know that will not happen in years to come,I was in Dover in the war days and after and the Town looked better then just after the bombing then it does today.

Good progress being made, the students have put stencils of bluebirds on the hoardings, starting to look much nicer

The photos on post No.1 would appear to me to be what I would call "aggressive art", IF one can call it art!

Took a walk to the seafront and definitely approve the 'bluebird' hoardings but really cannot work up any enthusiasm for what still looks like graffiti to me; sorry KCollege.

By leting them do it,it is also telling them graffiti is ok,yet if it was seen on the side of a bus inside or out and trains, and on shop windows and walls etc they would and righty get nicked for it.And if they are at college why are they not there learning.?soming that might help them in their working lifes.

Although not my cup of tea
these youngsters have been organised to try to make an area look better
and for the young its probably good to be involved rather than side lined

Afraid I don't agree about our yoof and their artwork. It's well known that this kind of contemporary art does not please the majority of the public, no matter how skilful and to allow them free rein is signalling the message that we aren't bothered. Well I am bothered. Surely there are more suitable areas where their right to freedom of expression can be practiced without it being so in your face. I don't need to be patronising to the kids, they undoubtedly knew the reaction it would arouse. Just my opinion.

I often wonder if those that do not like street art (I don't mean graffiti) would feel the same way if the completed image was similar to art work they might like. I can appreciate some of Banksy's work and the images Jeane has posted in the past are really clever.

I agree with Jan, and I think that some of you ought to loosen up and appreciate that someone is doing something to brighten the place up, and accept that we can't afford Banksy or even Picasso.
