That's right Roger, #56...
"A group of long-term unemployed jobseekers were bussed into London to work as unpaid stewards during the diamond jubilee celebrations..."
"...they had to camp under London Bridge the night before the pageant. They told the Guardian they had to change into security gear in public, had no access to toilets for 24 hours, and were taken to a swampy campsite outside London after working a 14-hour shift in the pouring rain on the banks of the Thames on Sunday."

Miserable indeed.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

I have to agree with Roger #56. All we seem to get on almost every single thread lately is doom and gloom whatever the thread is about.
For goodness sake lighten up.

i have to disagree about the doom and gloom, 2 threads of dover having a great time i.e. the jubilee lunch and the youth theatre production and very little interest.

Well, I for one have been enjoying sampling Jubilee celebrations in Dover Saturday, the Dover Tattoo Family day was a brilliant day, Nonnington Sunday, the Red Barrows Display team could only happen in England, Eythorne yesterday, where one of my daughters appears to have become a Smurf, and have enjoyed providing music playing with the Eythorne Silver Band on both Sunday and Monday.
In between times I 've managed to remain economically productive coordinating ship operation activity in Le Havre, Salalah and Sydney and later today I hope to have a bit of time to pop along to Shepherdswell, maybe see you there Sue.

There's a Fayre at Capel-le-Ferne too.
I went to buy my eggs there this morning and all the normal stalls are out in the field behind the Village Hall; a day full of activities is promised - and a beer tent too.

How right you are Jan - wish these doom and gloom merchants would just turn off their computers and go look for things going on - to sit at home and moan is just lazy and stupid. The sun is coming out and I'm off to find the fun when I finish work today.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Celebrating the Jubilee with a new Union Flag for TILMANSTONE VILLAGE:
Flag-raising on Saturday 2 June, Chairman of the Village Hall Committee, Brian Page, raised the flag, villagers sang the National Anthem and gave three hearty cheers for Her Majesty,
and then held a Cream Tea with home made scones, in the hall. You can see some of our home-made bunting!

Sky News calculates the money spent on jubilee-related tourism at £700 million, while each bank holiday gauges £2.4 billion from GDP. That's two bank holidays, about £4.5 billion gone down the drain.
Who's paying for all this?
In North Korea similar things happen to glorify the royal dynasty there, while people go hungry.
But here in Britain we have freedom of expression

Excellent Deal pictures.
An occasion like this, for Britons to celebrate, comes along very rarely, glad to see everyone enjoying themselves, and it will do the tourism industry a lot of good.

Looks like Deal made the effort - well done Deal T.C. or was it the Chamber of Trade ?
Pity we didn't have any to cheer the place up.

Well done Paul with the pictures, great decoration alright, but notice that there are very few people about in Deal. Where have they all gone.
I see Mark in the Just Reproach made a big effort...perhaps they are all in there hitting the cider !!lol
Lovely shot of Neils daughter too as a Smurf!..and the village hall getting in the swing...

most intrigued only 2 people in all of those deal pictures.
this must be because of one of two things.
a) there has been a nuclear holocaust there and the express and mercury forgot to report it.
b) it was an early morning dog walk.

PaulW, have a look around Dover, there is nothing in comparison to all that paper-work in Deal.
