You could not have hoped for better weather than Colin had today for his service. Though obviously a sad occasion the pleasant service made it so much more bearable.
To see so many of Colin's friends at Hawkinge was a great tribute to a man so well-liked and admired.
Farewell Colin, we will miss you but remember you well.

i can only echo what tony has said, it was a tasteful send off in a packed chapel.
colin's family handled everything well, we were regaled by stories about colin, some we knew, some we didn't know and others we suspected.
the invitation to the corn mill was very much appreciated by us forum members.
his missing passport will remain a mystery.
It was a truly beatiful send off , i hope he was looking down and seeing how much he ment to different people from all walks of life , he will be missed .

Yes it was a great send off for Colin in brilliant sunshine. Very crowded chapel which showed just how popular he was. There was an excellent turnout of forumites there too which was really great, always good to see all the usual faces. Good to meet some of the family for the first time at Crabble Corn Mill later.

What a beautiful sunny day it was for Colin and the little chapel was bursting with all his Family and friends, I could feel Colin's approval all round. He will always be remembered so fondly by so many.
It was a pleasure to meet Colin's Family and to speak with Ann, Laura, Emma, John and Susan who all so kindly shared some memories and photo's with us.

the chapel full of all his friends, family, and forumites.
he was a gentle quiet man., but today we learnt so much more about him

Yes it was a good sunny send off for colin and it was nice to meet up with his family and see so many other forum members there to.
Just in from work - wanted to say a real thank you to Colins family (who I did not meet properly today as I had to chase off to work after the funeral, sadly) for allowing me to say goodbye to Colin alongside them, and a thank you to Colin for making me take that first step of meeting the other DF-ers we talked about and who played such a part in our lives. Typical of Colin to make such a positive thing happen, and one of the many things for which I will remember him. Wasn't the service packed!?
The service was such a good one, full of meaning for everyone for different reasons, and how generous and courageous was his family. I hope we manage to meet sometime, properly. And what a pleasure it was to meet the people from these pages, all so charming. No excuse now for not turning up to the next DF bash and actually getting to talk to you all!
Thank you Colin, Colins family, and DF-ers.
PS - Ian - it was my pleasure.

It really was an excellent service - I left with a real portrait of a man I wish I had known a lot better. I can but reiterate what everyone else has said - it was a packed service, so much so it ran out of seats! That just shows how much Colin was loved.
RIP old chap - you will be missed.
Just like to say really nice to meet you all today. Ann has asked me to thank you all for coming, she was pleased to see so many people attending and joining us at the Corn Mill. It was so nice to get together with his family and friends many of whom Ann only knew by name. Colin was one of a kind and well be missed by all.

I don't think that I can add any more to what has been said above. It was nice to meet Colins family and forumites that I hadn't met before.
A lovely send off for a lovely man. RIP Colin.
Many thanks also to Terry for the lift to Hawkinge and on to River.

Time to relax this thread now and let it drift on the wind. We will always remember Colin very fondly both for who he was and for his marvellous contributions here on Doverforum. I remember just a few weeks before the end he wrote to me. I was still hopeful at that point...but he said that I had permission to use his pictures in the future.
There was something ominous in that statement at the time, and I began to realise he wasnt going to get better. It was sad indeed.
He had promised to buy me a drink in the White Horse too. Some people will do anything to get out of buying a drink

But wherever you are now Colin I will always be able to tell that story !lol

Very much missed.

Whilst I was away I raised a glass to Colin on Wednesday afternoon. Wouldn't you know, a short while later I saw an empty Topic wrapper on the street. In true Colin style it made me laugh, I knew them he had gone to a much better place. RIP Colin and God bless.

Had this lovely email below just in from an old friend of Colin...unfortunately I dont have Colin's address( see email below) ..perhaps new member John Beal, Colin's brother in law...may be able to help. Or indeed any of the other guys that know it.
Alan Spike Hodges's email is as follows..so drop him a line.

Dear Mr.Boland,
I hope you don't mind me contacting you, but I am trying to find Colin Pritchard's address,as I would like to pass on my condolences to his wife. I worked with Colin for many years on the railway, and was greatly saddened to hear of his untimely passing. If you think for any reason that my request would be inapropriate, then I will be guided by you. Also if you would rather not divulge his address, then I would be prepared to send the letter care of you.
Many thanks Alan("Spike") Hodges
