Dear all,
This is my first posting - I'm Colin's brother in law, John. On behalf of Colin's wife Ann, and daughters Emma & Laura I would like to express their thanks for all the kind words that have been posted. They have been following the thread and it has been a great comfort to them. Certainly Ann would like to see anyone that can make the funeral and afterward at the Crabble Corn Mill for refreshments. Donations are also being asked for to go to Pilgrims Hospice. Their nurses did a great job in the final days.
I look forward to making a contribution to the forum.
Regards
John

welcome john and thanks for the post.
i spoke to ann yesterday and she spoke of forum members going to the corn mill afterwards.
i suggested that she think it over because she would be under enough stress on the day without to many extra people.
there seem to be 12 definites from here.
great idea about pilgrims hospice.
Howard,
Ann would like to see you - to put some faces the the names. Colin liked the Corn Mill especially when the beer festival was held there!!

Dover Beach a poem by Matthew Arnold
The sea is calm tonight.
The tide is full, the moon lies fair
Upon the straits; on the French coast the light
Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand,
Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.
Come to the window, sweet is the night air!
Only, from the long line of spray
Where the sea meets the moon-blanched land,
Listen! you hear the grating roar
Of pebbles which the waves draw back, and fling,
At their return, up the high strand,
Begin, and cease, and then again begin,
With tremulous cadence slow, and bring
The eternal note of sadness in.
Dedicated to Colin who brought Dover alive to many both close and far away.

Ah well done there Marek a wonderful poem that and well done with the sentiment too for Colin, was chatting about that very poem only the other day. Let me add a small picture to go with it..the moon over the Dover Straits two nights ago...lighting the way to France for all seafarers.
