Phil - Italian market was in both local newspapers 2 weeks and one week before the event, on DTC and DDC websites, posted in various Dover related forums on the Facebook, broadcast widely on the Twitter-sphere, posted on this forum and physically posted on sign vans on the approaches to Dover during the week of the market itself. The Town Team had no budget to mention for marketing the event, but still did what we could with what we had.
I'm sorry if the publicity did not reach you, fortunately a significantly large proportion of local and more distant populations did hear of it and came, making the entire week of the market a big enough success that the market wants to come back.
Before the question is asked over posters - posters around town are frequently complained about and, as Town Team is supporting the effort to reduce the amount of fly posting, it seemed a bit counterproductive to add to the number of posters around the place.
Before the question is asked about flyers - flyers were handed out in the Town in the run up to the Italian Market on each Tuesday Blue Bird Market Day in August.
This Candlelight thing has been posted electronically on a few websites, including the DTC one, and on the Facebook, I've seen it in one or two places on the web myself. I haven't seen any fliers for it, but then I don't really read flyers - take them out of politeness and put them in my pocket, I have pockets full of fliers, so I could tell you who has been advertising in this way down in Dover for at least the last 18 months since I emptied my jacket pockets last time

As far as I know, the organisers of this particular carnival parade have a very limited budget for advertising and are relying on the likes of DTC to post it on websites - something that DTC have done.
