Don't worry about Brian - you can keep mentioning it as much as you like Howard. I agree with you.

Sadly many sites looked at lesley all rejected
and then mr watkins crew spent the dosh elsewhere and priory now lost out
unlikely ever to be replaced

Usual Sansum misinformation.
Money is available for a Priory site should a suitable one become available.
In the meantime more play equipment investment being applied in the ward at Elms Vale .

Watty continues to give misinformation(as he puts it)
When another poster asked the questionon where the £100,000 was that was put aside for a priory play area(not elms vale) he was told it had been eaten up with the adminstrations budgets, this was confirmed on here and by the officer at the time.
If we are now hearing money is availible then lets get on and get a site, re visit lands rejected before, look at other sites suggested by howard see if the old site could be used.

As the land previously used still belongs to DDC it should be the easiest option. I remember that the lighting and access needed improving but that all those years ago the local children seem to favour that site. Sometimes the talking prevents development and the children have grown before us adults get our act together, then we wonder why they feel undervalued.

are you talking about the area in clarendon field lesley?

That; the one Howard, there was talk of using the allotment site that runs along the bottom of that field but it was difficult to establish ownership as some had been sold on to a private individual.

brought that one up before lesley, definitely not a possible, reasons given are the usual:-
a) health and safety????
b) difficult to monitor yet you can see it from a great distance coming from all directions. i go through that field twice a week and it would hold no attraction for the wrong sort.

going off topic slightly here, spotted this on wednesday afternoon in the old play area.
if they are licenced to do weddings then the money received could be spent on play equipment.

Keith - paulW is NOT giving mis-information.
Lesley, I have persued the Clarendon site on a number of occasions but never got anywhere; the most recent reason and the one with the biggest stumbling block, is that it could never be DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) compliant.
I think, to please most people (parents and children) the best location would be somewhere in the Priory area, around the Clarendons, but I believe that every spare piece of land has been looked at, but for various reasons, hasn't beem picked up.
Clarendon field (not DDA compliant)
Westbury allotments (too much local opposition and all plots are being used)
The plot of land behind the JC Decaux advertising board (next to the old Boston Guest House) in Folkestone Road (too small)
The land behind the above piece of land (has planning permission for ghouses/flats)
Old allotments near the Malvern Pub, near Heathwood Studios, behind Clarendon Place - at the top of Malvern Road area (this hasn't been rejected, but is currently being looked at)
Any other spare bits of land that anyone knows about ?

I think a round of congratulations are due to Guston team who have worked and delivered this project. The Parish Council & a group of residents just got on with it .

Has anyone spoken to any local groups who provide services to disabled children or the children themselves? They can often see the wood for the trees and come up with very simple solution to problems we anticipate.

Near Kenilworth there is a small country amusement park which has all sorts of rides, slides, indoor and outdoor amusements for kids, including a zip wire. Much of the park is on slopes and there are lots of domestic animals around. (Ducks, geese. Guinea pigs, sheep, goats etc.) oh and a falconry centre. It's all totally DDA compliant. It's a huge pleasure to see a disabled child shrieking with joy on the zip wire. One day DDC will train its officers to see stumbling blocks as challenges, not obstacles.
